December 19, 201114 yr I've been reading some reviews on the Airbus X and finding that despite it's high level of detail, it is somewhat simplified. Could somebody who owns the product elaborate on this? How does it compare to, say Captain Sim? Which systems are simplified, and how so? Also, I was wondering if it has VNAV capability. And what are the prospects for the extended edition?Thanks,boeing247 -Bram Osterhout

That will most likely be the end of January or early February, Aerosoft set the target for early December 2011 but higher priority items pushed it to next month or so. I like the AirbusX a lot but use it with AivlaSoft's EFB so I have all the missing links. Even stand alone it is a good package. VC is as good as any other for FSX and the external textrures are outstanding. Lots of repaints.I also have the JustFlight Jetliner A320 Airbus but it really is a LITE version and not at all on par with the Aerosoft AirbusX.The big drawback for most folks is they want to use the CDU for loading all the details and use Navigraph. The current model doesn't support much detail for the CDU and doesn't use Navigragh, just the FSX flight planner. This was by design. The flight model is fine by me. I will buy the extended edition but not waiting with baited breath. I have the PMDG NGX to fly and I have a bunch of missions for the AirbusX. See the Avsim front page for the Ultimate AirbusX A321 review published on Saturday. That is loads of entertainment using older software but still fun.Ray When Pigs Fly . Ray Marshall .
December 19, 201114 yr Author Good to know. Though does that meant the current Airbus X does not have VNAV and LNAV capability? And along with VNAV, can you set altitude constraints?I just recently started using the EFB, though, so I'm glad to hear that it helps--I figured it would. I do own the JustFlight A319, so I know what you mean about the A320.With the EFB, though, it sounds like the Airbus X is pretty good just as long as it does in fact have VNAV and LNAV. -Bram Osterhout

AirbusX does none of the stuff you are asking about out of the box. No LNAV, no VNAV. Think of it as a really nice flying, execellent VC, excellent exterior default aircraft.Ray When Pigs Fly . December 19, 201114 yr Actually, despite the fact that it is supposed to simulate some of the hydralics and electrics, you can actually still move the control surfaces even on a cold and dark plane. So there you go... The extended version will probably be more up your street (and mine). That said, I really like flying the Airbus X because of its good performance and good looks. I fly it rather oftne nowadays, alongside the PMDG 737NGX.
