December 25, 201114 yr Hello guys, yesterday I finally got windows 7 64bit and have all my stuff installed on it. Now Im up to upgrading my RAM. My current specs are windows 764bit intel core 2 quad CPU Q6600 2.40GHz 2.39GHz RAM 3327Im after either 8GB or 16GB. Anyway more importantly Im after the name of the type which is best recommended. Im very unsure with what type of RAM to get. How do I find the name of the current RAM I have? And when I do should I get a completely new one if there are better ones out there? Thanks for the help guys and merry xmas ;) Joe Barton
December 26, 201114 yr Anything over 4GB is over kill for FSX unless you need the extra RAM for other programs you use.
December 26, 201114 yr Jim is right BUT if you think you'll get Flight at released a minimum of 6GB is what's required with Window 7 64-bit.
December 27, 201114 yr Author I do run other apps while using fsx, vatsims pilot client FSInn. I think Im going for 8GB Joe Barton
December 27, 201114 yr Anything over 4GB is over kill for FSX unless you need the extra RAM for other programs you use.I wouldn't go that far. Over kill is over 8GB nowadays. ___________________________________________________________________________________ Zachary Waddell -- Caravan Driver -- Facebook: http://www.facebook.com/zwaddell Avsim ToS Avsim Screenshot Rules

December 27, 201114 yr ok so its going to be 8GB, now for the series...any recommendations? If it was me I'll look for the highest MHz your board can take with the lowest timing.....that's only me.
December 27, 201114 yr If it was me I'll look for the highest MHz your board can take with the lowest timing.....that's only me.Yeah, but if money is an issue, just shoot for some 1600 RAM. That's the sweet spot. Though I like to have tight timings, I finally decided I couldn't tell a single difference on my C2D rig. Ever since that machine all practical benchmarks point to the same idea, so it's become less and less important to me. On newegg there isn't a single DDR3 1600 RAM kit that couldn't get the job done, and well. Timings are not ( ) that important unless your thing is to benchmark with all of the other overclock.net geeks. ___________________________________________________________________________________ Zachary Waddell -- Caravan Driver -- Facebook: http://www.facebook.com/zwaddell Avsim ToS Avsim Screenshot Rules
