December 31, 201114 yr Currently have xp 32 on C: drive (30GB, Primary).I am about to install Windows 7 pro 64 on D: (40GB, Primary).I have the other two, E (Logical) and F (logical) of 500GB HD.My question is, if i install my fs9 on "E" using xp, should I also intall it twice using windows 7 as I want to use my fs9 in windows 7 64 as welll. Is it necessary to have 2 fs9 installed in order to run it in both OS? The idea is to learn how fs9 runs in windows 7 smoothly, till then I still want to run my fs9 in xp whenever I want it to like I usually did for years.Thank You
December 31, 201114 yr I have Win 7 on C: with Fs2004 installed on F:I believe that aslong as you set-up the correct registry settings for Fs2004 in your new copy of Win 7, then it should work like a dream. Honestly, Fs2004 and Win 7 work beautifully together. If you like, I can give you the registry key to add? (it's only one, I believe, and it's not compulsory now I come to think about it) Sam Nicholson - UK Only just got back in to flight simming and Avsim after a year or so - pardon me whilst I find my feet again!

Thank you for your reply. I really appreciate it.Actually, I myself don't think it'll be wise to install both OS just because I want to run my fs9 in both Xp and Win 7. I agree it should work like a dream, yet i'm anticipating in case things dont go well.About the registry thingy you mentioned, does it allow me to run fs9 in both OS or.... forgive my ignorance.Thanx again for the reply.Happy New Year
December 31, 201114 yr I'll be honest, I think the best decision would be to upgrade altogether to 7. It has the amazing new-generation windows look, and the speed (if not better then the same) as xp. Be my guest if you want to trial it to see the difference, if anything there'll be an improvement. Trust this advice, I went from do to 7 and still get over 20fps on a standard laptop spec.Hope this is good advice. Had a think and I believe aslong as your drivers are alright in the 7 install, then you should be able to run fs2004 as it is. You won't be able to install some addons though, because a lot don't give the option to choose the fs2004 directory. December 31, 201114 yr Strange but I've been roaming the forum and browsing here and there, but short reply you posted convinces me more other than 3 weeks of research due to fs9+win 7 compatibility. I am now working on it. Running fs9 (and perhaps FLIGHT!, not fsx thou) in windows 7 is a go. But I think I'll spare some space to install XP - for sentimental reason.Thanx again mate. :DRegardsColtrane

February 13, 201214 yr Hi Coltranefor what its worth I have just conducted a test with 2 identical PC'c one running XP one running windows 7. FS9 was getting terrible frame rates in win7 probably working out at 10 fps average but FSX was average of 20fps or so. In XP FS9 was getting about 30fps but had a stutter about every 2 minutes. FSX was getting around 12-15fps. I don't know if win7 64bit would do better. I am a bit baffled as to why fs9 did so badly in win 7. Both PC's have the latest drivers. I get fed up with the stutters in XP fs9 that is why I thought I would try it out in win 7.
