  1. Hi Zach, thanks for your reply, I realise that like most things manufactured or otherwise are not 100% identical, but I thought with something like this that they would be very close. When i tried the overclock on both PC's they behave similar. They both overclock to 5%(3150Ghz) and run well. They both do not post at 10%. They XP rig boots up at 15% but not the W7. When in default mode the FSB is at 1333MHz at 5% AI overclock is running at 1400MHz vid is 1.256v. In AI 15% overclock it is running at 3450GHz FSB at 1533.39MHz vid 1.312 v. I notice that in AI modes that don't post after I alter settings(10% & 20%) in each the BIOS does'nt give me the warning not to touch the power or reset button. The thing is a puzzle. I sthere a chance it is a quirk of this mobo & cpu combination?I would appreciate any thoughtsDave

  3. Here is one for you experienced overclockers. I have 2 Identicle PCs running Asus P5N-D mobo, E8400 CPU, nvidia GTX9800, 4 GB RAM. Extra case fans and better CPU cooling. I have one running W7 the other XP. Using the Asus AI overclocking software I can overclock the W7 machine by 15% & it runs fine. I tried it on the XP machine it will boot up and then fly in FS9 or FSX then locks up after about 30 minutes. IT won't boot on 10% overclock but runs fine on 5% overclock. In all cases the temperatures are fine. Does anyone have any bright ideas on that. I would be very interested on your thoughts. Thanks in advance
  4. Hi Coltranefor what its worth I have just conducted a test with 2 identical PC'c one running XP one running windows 7. FS9 was getting terrible frame rates in win7 probably working out at 10 fps average but FSX was average of 20fps or so. In XP FS9 was getting about 30fps but had a stutter about every 2 minutes. FSX was getting around 12-15fps. I don't know if win7 64bit would do better. I am a bit baffled as to why fs9 did so badly in win 7. Both PC's have the latest drivers. I get fed up with the stutters in XP fs9 that is why I thought I would try it out in win 7.
  5. Thanks Hugo that is worth a try.
  6. Hi all. I had a failure of my PC(HDD still OK), and have decided to get a new one. I have been lucky to get one with XP installed. My question is there an easy way to get my many addons both commercial and freeware over to my new PC. It would be a very long job doing all the freeware file by file. Many of you must of bought a new PC at some time what did you do? Sorry if this has been covered before but I cannot get the search to work. Thanks in advance for any advice offered.
  7. I have had that problem before but I found it was caused by not having flown the bird correctly. Try doing the tutorial flight and following to the letter. That way you will learn how to fly her properly, she needs to be treated with respect.Regards Dave

    FSX Vista

Your lucky.I run FS9 on a new Vista machine and while I am preparing for a flight in 757 usually while loading the fmc fs9 crashes just before windows error message pops up saying " buffer overrun detected". so far this is the only plane that causes it. PIC 737 OK, LD767 OK,PSS Concorde OK, Still to test PSS 777 PMDG 747. Any Ideas what I can do. My old much inferior spec PC ran them all OK just with less clear graphics.
  9. Sorry I have made a mess of attachments so I give up now. But contact me through here if I can help . Dave:-)
  10. Sorry the files have come as text I must have done something wrong. I will try again.Dave
  11. Hi Ryanyes that is what I have done turned off UAC. But anyway if you see my last post I have it sorted now. I have sent Aerosoft the solution that worked for me. Thanks to everyone who offered advice. I have some screenshots of what I did if anyone wants too know. See attachedRegardsDave
  12. Hi Gerrythanks for that, but I did all that & it did not work. But I tried something else which did work. I dont know why it did because I have user accounts turned off. What I did in addition to all the other steps you and others have told me was to set all the same settings again but this time for the other users button below in the compatability tab. In addition on both sections I disabled "visual themes" "desktop composition" & "display scaling on DPI settings" Hey presto as soon as I clicked on "run as administrator" it worked. Its taken 3 weeks to get to this. Mine is also a HP dektop.I hope others who may have trouble will find this, & find it useful.Regards and thanks.Dave
  13. Hi I am also having the same problem I tried all that has been said on here the PMDG site & Aerosoft none of them have an answer. It was after I had the 744 & FS2crew that I decided my old PC was not good enough for the task so I bought myself a new one, but could not get one with XP. I sure hope someone can find an answer. I wonder if anyone has had the 744 running on Vista yet.Regards Dave
  14. Thanks Craig but I have read all that & tried it, nothing works.
  15. It gives me a message that it cannot open a security module sometimes. Or sometimes I get a spinning disc on the curser then nothing happens after several minutes. But I can hear the cd spinning in the drive & then that will also stop.
  16. Hi, I have read all I can find both in this forum & PMDG web site about installing PMDG 747 400 aerosoft CD version, but I can not get it to install into my new Vista PC. I disabled user account control, I tried it in both XP compatability mode & windows 2000 mode. All with no luck. Its the only one of my many add-ons that will not install. I contacted aerosoft & all they could suggest was what I have already done. Has anybody got any ideas? ( apart from going back to XP) Thanks in advance for any help offered.
