It costs in the range of $400+, which is not unusual for a new top-end video card. It performs maybe 5 - 10% better than the next in line 9800Pro 128 mb. The 9800Pro is on sale at CompUsa for $200.00 (plus instant and mail in rebates). NewEgg just had a 1-day sale for $212. As you can see, they are dropping in price. Paying 100% more for an extra 5-10% (maybe) performance boost just isn't worth it IMO.If you really want to stave off future upgrades, wait a few months and get a new PCI-Express mainboard and video card. You'll be paying about what you would pay for top of the line today (what the market will allow) and you'll have a better platform going forward.
