MS should have released an FSX expansion pack for $50
Uhhh, FSX engine needs to be re-written. It's incredibly poorly optimized.

That's why I included code improvements. Acceleration included SP2, which had performance updates. There is no reason that an expansion pack cannot improve performance. The fact that it would be an expansion would mean that you would still need to have FSX to use it. ie: no re-release of the full scenery is needed nor any art that has not changed. One could argue that MS did not have to release SP2 separately, just Acceleration and they would have made more money.
that includes the updated Flight global terrain and cloud textures and code improvements

Wait, so will it be possible to purchase scenery for the whole world on Flight?

Just to be clear, according to MS itself, the free download will be just one island, the Big Island of Hawaii and one plane, the A5. If you go through the trouble to create a LIVE account, you will get the Stearman and the content that goes with it.

The only information that I saw publicly released said no. MS said it will concentrate on creating higher detail, but smaller areas. As to how small, how many, where, nobody knows. It appears that MS itself does not know and will watch its telemetry from what people are playing to decide what DLC to develop next.
