January 6, 201214 yr I own a 980x (got first week was out) and to buy one in today's chip market would be simple put dumb when 2600K and the newer enthuses chips architecture is far superior and more overclockable and even more-so once looking at price points too. January 6, 201214 yr Yes. The 990x is the same as the 980x...the true difference is whether it performed intel's tests better. Now sandy bridge is a newer architecture and I would go for that. It is clearly a better processor. Steven Penninck
