January 6, 201214 yr Well, I started fooling with some Gothic designs, one was a bit too pastel pink, and the boyfriend told me I couldn't paint a plane like that... Red rag to a bull you know? So... C-HICK was born. I spent around three hours this morning working from the ground up, most of that is hand drawn, with some patterns used as templates in places. Its pink, its girly, and you know what? I love it :DWhat do you think? I sorta consider it a first draft, perhaps I'll make some changes, I've still got that 'artists eyes' feeling where it looks perfect to me... we'll see... anyway, screenshots!(Rolling out of the paint shop at Manderville Airfield, New Zealand)(taxiing out on a gorgeous summer day in January? (my head still doesn't get that))(Cruising over the countryside!)(on approach back to Manderville, (NZVL) note my lovely new black panel I just finished too? Part of my mad little project.)(Should I paint the wings or not? I sorta like them white.. its like a stripy candy floss effect with the baby pink paint... hmm)(Parked up, time for a nice cold drink after a short scoot around the countryside... )For those interested, the aircraft is the Carenado Archer II model, which donated itself to my PA28-236 Dakota Project, with new flight dynamics, new sounds, textures, and a lot of love and attention. She's fast becoming my 'go to gal' for the heroic load lifting, and quick cruise speed... Plus she stops on a dime! Wonder how long those fairings would last on the usual Bush strips I fly into? Perhaps they will come off so she doesn't scuff her pretty paint! :D(oh yes, the scenery is the new orbx South Island New Zealand (its fantastic)Thanks for looking!Rachael
January 6, 201214 yr One thing for sure, it's very girly! Something my wife and daughter wouldn't mind flying. Johnny Rosario
January 8, 201214 yr That really is quite fetching Rachael!I have always been one for "different" - I know that in the real world, pilots tend to be very very conservative. "White and a stripe" is the adage - save weight! More colour equals ballast and all that. But here in sim we can really let rip with our fantasies. That is the beauty of simulation - it's "Your World". As for your fairings and bush flights - well, I'd recommend a couple of extra coats of clear two-part resin paint. Not very "green" but tough as nails. :) Chris Brisland - the repainter known as EagleSkinner is back from the dead. Perhaps. Or maybe not. January 8, 201214 yr Author pity there isnt a model that lets me keep the nose pant, and ditch the main ones... a more common real setup for rougher strips allowing the main gear to take the roughness before you drop the nose down, while reducing friction on the nose wheel... biggest drag difference between a tail dragger and a trike...Thanks for the comments, I wanted it to be a bit different, but not 'gaudy'... so its to me atleast, somewhat tasteful... yet 'unique'
