3 minor problems with the NGX

Featured Replies

Hi,The NGX has been working so well for me, that there isn't much to blame on it. There are so many good things, that now I can only notice the bad ones, well, these here are the only problems I'm having with the NGX. These are just minor problems, which are not really destroying the fun, but they keep attracting my attention:1. Landing lights, and/or taxi lights sometimes not illuminating the ground during day/night or night/day transitions, this mostly happens at add-on airports. The same thing happens with the MCP illumination.2. Top of Descent flickering: Sometimes, when coming up to the T/D, I see for example on the ND that the T/D is 50 nm in front of me, I also see another T/D that is 10 nm further away, they are both flickering. It seems the FMC cannot decide between those two T/D's. 3. State of airstairs not saving in panel state: Always when I've done a flight, I save my flight in the Flights -> Save... menu. In my next flight, I just load my last saved flight and continue. However, sometimes I have opened the airstairs in my previous flight, when I'm for example at an apron, or at an airport with no jetways. I then save the flight. When I load it up again, everything is exactly in the last state I saved it in, but not the airstairs. Infact, the airstairs are closed again. I just prefer to keep them open when I want to.The rest of the NGX is working flawlessly. These are the only bad things I know for the moment. The rest just a total masterpiece, but that's old news...Hope you can look into the these 3 minor problems (and possible other problems, which at least I, haven't noticed (yet)). I also wish you, PMDG, a lucky 2012, and a lot of success with the 777! Looking forward to it.

Hey Arjen,To your point 1. PMDG used some special tricks to do the taxi, landinglights and the other lights, however FSX doesn't handels that very well in the day/night- and night/daytime transitions. The lights look very nice, hoever they have this problem. They said that it is an FSX limitation and I think they won't be able to fix it.Jonathan

Arjen,Regarding the FMC and calculating the TOD. This topic was discussed a while back. It seems this behavior is even seen at times in the real 73 as the FMC works through the formulas necessary to calculate TOD. The fact that this behavior is seen in the real 73 was confirmed by a number of folks in the "know". With regard to your issue with landing and taxi lights... are you using any software which provides textures for lighting, e.g., REX, AS2012, etc.?JW

1. Landing lights, and/or taxi lights sometimes not illuminating the ground during day/night or night/day transitions, this mostly happens at add-on airports. The same thing happens with the MCP illumination.
No solution or Fix Plannned.
2. Top of Descent flickering: Sometimes, when coming up to the T/D, I see for example on the ND that the T/D is 50 nm in front of me, I also see another T/D that is 10 nm further away, they are both flickering. It seems the FMC cannot decide between those two T/D's.
No Fix Planned.
They know about this issue but whether a Fix is in the works I don't know. If anything is probably the only one of the 3 you mentioned that will be looked at. But this was mentioned a long time back I believe even before SP1 came out. Think it came up with the topic about the Front Right Door not opening unless you had power. They did fix the door but not the ladder issue.
