January 21, 201214 yr Obviously subjective but just wanted to get a concensus. Also how many have different presets for each of the 10 days or just clone to day one.I just clone to day one and find that Shepard delight is fantastic albeit a little dark. Marc Lynn
January 21, 201214 yr Very subjective indeed, but I prefer Winter Chills for my allaround preset. It gives somewhat cold color temperature, but for me at least it makes scenery colors most photoreal hue.One thing using different settings with shade is of course monitor calibration and it varies a lot between users. Also cheap TNs have different color temperature and black levels than better IPSs or PVAs no matter how monitors are calibrated. Differences between users are so large so definitive ansewer is almost impossible.
January 21, 201214 yr As you've said, it's personal preference. I think the most important part is to find out which shadow values gives nice terrain impressions together with not too dark cockpits. Once you have those, save them in a preset called 'my shadows'.Now one may test all the presets that came with the program and is able to inject his own shadow values with the loading of just those. That's the S button on the load dialogue. So load the new preset, then load your shadows via 'S' and you're done.If one feels the strong need to tweak all 10 day cycles of FSX, he may do so, but I'd recommend the Clone Day One button and a test flight instead. It's about flying, not tweaking all day long.I'd change the presets for the region you like to fly to. The shadows will once again remain the same, but the light colour can be altered to give a nice Winter feeling or one of a very dry environment for example.
