February 26, 200422 yr Just checked out their web site and the Airbus panel looked pretty interesting. Then I saw the price--$399. Ouch. Just wondering what's included for that kind of money. Looks good, but a bit pricey imho. billg
February 26, 200422 yr Hi, all PM software is available as time limited demo, you are invited to see for yourself. And you are right - it looks good, but is a bit pricey! :-)
February 27, 200422 yr I would love to, but if I was going to drop that kind of money on something flightsim related, I would get myself a nice quality yoke or something. ------------------------- Craig from KBUF
February 27, 200422 yr on the other hand, if you buy it, you will be counted among the righteous. and that's priceless.:-lol
February 27, 200422 yr Author Moderator Bill,Yes, I have the Boeing package - Glass Cockpit, CDU(FMC) and MCP. It is expensive but Enrico is constantly upgrading it and the quality of the displays is superb. Once you've seen the Navigation Display (ND) and Primary Flying Display (PFD) at 1280*960 on a 19" monitor being updated 100+ times a second it's difficult to use any standard panel with FS2004.With the current decline of the US dollar it represents reasonable value for money for us Brits. Try the demo version if you have a second display and you might be converted.Cheers, Ray (Cheshire, England). February 27, 200422 yr Hello and YES,I just updated my sim system to two displays. I added the second display to give me somewhere to put instruments when I wanted to look at what I was doing!I just got the GA panels and I think they are great. I fly all three versions (Archer, 172 and black panel) and love them, They are smooth in response and I plan to get the Boeing set when I can afford them!!!!! So far - they have not put a load on my system. I'm still on one computer with 2 displays.I really got them when I got into using my TRACKIR2. I now use the VC with the trackir for my field of view and the second display with the GA Panel for my instruments. One caution - they will not work with PSS products but they do work with my GOFLIGHT hardware. For now - while pricey - I'm very happy with them.Ron Sagel
February 27, 200422 yr Ray, thx for the reply. I have an ati 9800 pro, and it has a second output on it. I should really give this a try. I can put it on my tv or a 2nd monitor--well, the 2nd monitor is out for now because Pippa, my 10 mth old black lab, chewed the cord. But yes, this does sound interesting.....Thanks again, rgds, billg
February 27, 200422 yr Author Moderator Hi Bill,Bear in mind that although PM will run on a second display with FS running on the other screen as long as everything is being fed by a single processor your frame rates in both apps will suffer. On my previous machine (Athlon 2000XP, 1Gb RAM, Ti4600 128Mb card) FS9 frame rates dropped from around 23 to 14 with PM running on the other monitor. The main difference is with DirectX9 which will accelerate an application that does not have the "focus" whereas DX8 didn't. So if you switch from one application to the other frame rates remain high. On DX8 the unaccelerated application's frame rates plummeted to 3-4fps!PM is best suited running on a networked computer and it can be quite modest. Athlon 1400 or better will be fine. That's when PM really comes into its own. Of course you can try the demo version and see how it works out for you once you've replaced that cable! Naughty dog! :-)Cheers, Ray (Cheshire, England).
