ASE and FSBuild Winds

Featured Replies

Hi,I have been using ASE support for flight planning with FSBuild for some time and it has worked very well. However with the latest beta build when I save the current weather and then run FSBuild the wind component that I get in the flight plan at times is totally different than what ASE produces as start my flight. For example I flew from LFPG to KATL the plan wind was -15, when ASE loaded the wind component was -60. Is there some variable that I am not loading correctly. I have all the FSB settings correctly loaded for integration with ASE.Thanks for help to resolve this issue.Bob JohnsonKDTW

Hi Chris, I forgot to thank you for this suggestion My Bad. I have done that still waiting for response from the HiFi team. I am about to do a flight from EHAM to KATL and wind planning is a major issue. Thanks ChrisBob JohnsonKDTW

No problem Bob... I hope you get it sorted.

Hey Bobby,i actually have noticed this same thing lately with HUGE discrepancies... FS9ASE latest BuildFSBuild latest buildFSFK latest buildJust set up a flight plan from LLBG-KEWR. ASE briefing page reports the following winds for the flight 300/34 with a -17 wind component.FSBUILD and FSFk both come up with this: AVG wind conditions: 301/75 Avg Headwind: 68.65 Avg Crosswind -31.43Both say an avg temp of -53ASE even shows headwinds off 100+ in the actual report but the summary is completely wrong...-Paul

Hi Everyone, came up on the same problem yesterday EHAM to KATL FSBuild planned wind component was -23 the ASE component was -12 ASE during flight had head winds of 110 knots along the US east coast. Luckly I put an extra 10K of fuel on my LDS 767. I am still waiting to hear from HiFi as to why the saved winds don't reflect the real ASE and NWS jet stream winds in the planning process.BTW ASE produced some awesome depictions of weather over western Europe as I climbed out of EHAM. Bob

Hey Bob,Wondering if you had heard anything back on this...Thank you!-Paul

I don't know about you but for me they really never match. Regardless of time, regardless of flightplan. Is that your experience as well or are yours more isolated? Thanks again!-Paul

Paul it seems that since I installed the beta the winds in flight and FSB's plan winds don't even come close.Bob

Wow, my flight I am firing up right now is the worst I have seen to date...EGLL-KEWR Active Date and Time 2/28/12 17:51 GMTEGLL CPT UL9 KENET UN14 BAKUR SHA RESNO 5620N 5730N 5740N 5650N SCROD VALIE 5165N N242B YBC YRI BTV HANAA ALB V213 FLOSI SAX KEWRAccording to ASE, Wind Component is 0 According to FSB and FSFK I have a headwind component of 54kts!! That is an extra hour of fuel for a 777 I would have been short if going by ASE alone.I guess I just need to dismiss the ASE information as irrelevant...

Guys this seems to going in a circle. Here is sequence between Damian, Ernie (FSB) and me. I have submitted requested info to Ernie.Bob,I would have to see the ASE snapshot file you are using, and the flight plan you are trying to create.Regards.Ernie.Hi Ernie,This response to trouble ticket I sent to Damian where the plan wx in FSB does not match what ASE presents during the preflight. Have you notice this?Bob Hello Robert,After reviewing this, we cannot find any problems with the data or wind information provided by ASE, and there have been no changes that should affect this between SP3 and recent beta builds.Since you did not note any discrepancy between ASE data, ASE wind component information and your flight, it appears ASE is operating correctly here. The only issue then that FSBuild for some reason is not properly reading or using this information? This is strange that it only occurred with the most recent beta build of ASE, but perhaps that is a coincidence? Might be worth a test to go back to the original SP3 build (let us know if you need a download link). We have several testers using ASE latest beta builds as well as FSBuild with no problems reported.I do not have FSBuild myself, and since this appears to be an FSBuild issue I think we need to turn to Ernie for help on this one. My recommendation is to verify all FSBuild settings/configuration and if the problem persists to send Ernie the information (similar to what you have sent here, including the Wx file you are saving from ASE and the .PLN). I suspect the problem may be that FSBuild is not actually reading AS weather data for some reason.Sorry I could not be of more help, but please keep us updated on this.Damian ClarkHiFi Technologies, Inc.
