Installing the FSX SDK

Featured Replies

Hello,I've already asked this in the correct forum but I did not get a sigle response there, so now I'm trying it here because I know of the great knowlegde in this forum here.I have a problem with installing the FSX SDK. I have installed it following the instructions on fsdeveloper.com, but it doesn't show up in FSX. I have FSX deluxe with the ACC pack installed on my system and I think I have the correct version of the SDK installed.Does someone know what I'm doing wrong or has any suggestion or tipps?

I don't remember the trick, but I ran into that too three or four years ago. Make sure it shows up in your Programs from the start button, make sure you installed it with admin rights. See also the help file that launches from the start button programs list. It wasn't difficult, maybe if you google the problem you can find the solution. Oh yeah, make sure you have the latest SP for FSX and the latest corresponding SDK release, I think that was it.

What exactly do you mean it doesn't show up in FSX? The SDK isn't something inside FSX really - there's a few gauges you can enable via the dll.xml file (object and effect placement tools etc) but aside from that it's just documentation, programming examples and a few tools like the BGL compiler.

It adds a couple of menu items, but other than that ....

I'm talking about the "tools" menu in FSX: I had installed the SDK once so I know what should be there. The problem is just that there isn't anything from the SDK.But when you're talking about the dll.xml, may I have to activate those tools manually then? If yes how can that be done?

It is there when I'm going in the start menu. Also I have SP2 and the accelerationpack installed. I also think that I have the correct version of the SDK installed.Maybe you could tell me which version it has to be so that I can check that again, just to make sure...
