February 4, 201214 yr I used the FMC to plan my flight from PANC - KSEA and should have about 7 tonnes left when I landed according to the PROG page. I took off and climbed to about FL170 when I had to go and help my missus outside. I paused it for about 40 mins. When I came back in and unpaused the sim, the PROG page indicated I would only have 2.3 tonnes left. Why the sudden drop? What the hell happened? Brett Williamson
February 4, 201214 yr I would say that the problem is a 737 doesn't like going from PANC to KSEA with things like "FL170" "tonnes" and "missus." It's a very vindictive plane. ;)(Serious, I have no idea. Good luck.) Matt Cee
February 4, 201214 yr I can only imagine that the FMC somehow kept calculating while the sim was paused. 40 minutes of "standing still" with a ground speed of 0 would dramatically decrease your average speed and thus lead to an increase in fuel consumption. But that's just speculation.Regards,OliOliver BranaschkySent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Edited February 4, 201214 yr by Oliver Branaschky Oliver Branaschky
February 4, 201214 yr Did the actual fuel level drop here? Thanks!Nick CrateChief Executive OfficerFedEx Virtual Air Cargo
February 5, 201214 yr Author Yes it dropped. I thought maybe ASE might have loaded new weather in while paused causing a recalculation when I resumed, but the winds aloft matched what I entered at each waypoint the whole way to Seattle. Maybe I need to drop the Imperial weights and Aussie lingo as this is an American aircraft. But you know, last night I had a BBQ and threw down quite a few beers on a lovely summer afternoon. I couldnt help it. Ha ha Brett Williamson

February 5, 201214 yr Author I would gladly drink in liters. Or litres even! :)Litres! Oh, and its Colours, with a 'u'. And the bank gives you a cheque, not a check (the doctor does that).Ha ha Brett Williamson
February 5, 201214 yr Brett, Funny you mention the word "Colours". I think it was last year, but we were having a discussion about this at school one day. The teacher told us that the current guidelines are to teach "Color" but accept both. Off topic I know, but just an interesting fact.
February 5, 201214 yr Author That's the English way mate. How we spell in Australia. Back on topic, I just paused and went out for a while. When I resumed my aircraft was 1.5 tonnes shorter on fuel then when I had paused. So its consuming fuel while paused. Brett Williamson
February 5, 201214 yr Just had the sim paused for 3 hours in cruise, but neither the fuel on board nor the fuel prediction changed when I resumed flight.Oliver BranaschkySent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Oliver Branaschky
February 5, 201214 yr Author Mine also used to consume oil and hydraulics while paused. That stopped after the last service pack. I am up to date with service packs. Brett Williamson
