February 5, 201214 yr Hi there,Lately, I am getting a warning screen after AS2012 has downloaded weather. is says: "Over 3000 data reports are being ignored due to their date/time stamp being too old. Please check your computer clock..."Situation:- AS2012 (B4363) installed on 2nd PC.- Using Sim Time and GMT- Computer clocks are all correct (not in the future)- FSX started and situation loaded with time set at 28 june 2011, 16.30GMT at KSHM airportWhen I then start AS2012 on the 2nd PC it shows FSX connected, but the time is shown as the actual real world time (GMT+1). Immediately AS2012 begins downloading the current weather.Only after 30 seconds, the displayed time in AS2012 changes into the Sim time. It is still downloading the actual weather though. When it finishes downloading the actual weather, it shows the error message. After I have pressed OK, ActiveSky then starts downloading the weather again but now using the Sim time.So there seem to be two things going wrong:1. AS2012 starts downloading weather before it has got the correct sim time. That's OK if you use Real time but if you're using sim time it means you have to wait until the wrong weather is downloaded before the correct weather is downloaded.2. When the first download is finished (with the wrong time/date) the warning is displayed. Probably because the downloaded weather is not valid since AS has now matched it's time to the sim.I noticed that when I switch AS2012 to "real time", and leave the time in FSX as it was (june 28th) and then restart AS2012 it downloads the current weather (as it should) and doesn't give the warning.l also tested what happens when AS2012 is switched to Sim time while FSX is set to the current time. As expected I do not get a warning now as there is no mismatch between the downloaded weather and the sim time. However, After downloading the weather and finishing the weather (Weather synthesis thread has been started), it immediately begins downloading the weather for a second time (and is finished with that very quickly), which it didn't do when AS2012 was set to real time. That's probably because the sim time still is a couple of seconds off compared to real time.Do I do anything wrong, is this a bug or just an undesired feature? At least I would like to get rid of the warning message but it would be nice if this behaviour could be corrected, if only because the weather needs to be downloaded twice at the start of the flight which creates a delay for us and is an extra load on the weather server.Apart from this I am very happy with AS2012. February 5, 201214 yr Orchestra_nl!I used to always get the same warning with ASE when I would try to OPEN a previously downloaded wx file instead of the one it loaded automatically on startup. I used to just click off the warning and try my OPEN file again and it would work. Never considered it had anything to do with the time. I have FSX set to sim-time and I always fly offline. I haven't seen the warning with AS2012 but I sometimes have a problem getting AS2012 to display the wx file I want right away. I sometimes have had to save it as LastDownloadedWx file so that when I restart the program in offline it will bring up correct data. Not had consistent problems, however, so have not given it as thorough an analysis as you have. I will do some experimenting myself using your findings. Thanks.
February 6, 201214 yr I guess I'm more easily satisfied than most pilots. I get that warning every once in a great while, not with any noticeable frequency at all. This has been going on for over a year and no one at HiFi Sim has been able to offer a convincing fix and no independent user has done either. I took to clicking the Ok (or whatever) button, take off and fly. Know what happens?? Absolutely nothing. Everything operates correctly. IMHO it's a non-issue Edited February 6, 201214 yr by woodhick Dan George (woodhick)Check out Greenbrier Aero Club, the VA for and about the GA pilot.
February 6, 201214 yr Author Well, I do find this an issue so I guess that I am not as easily satisfied. How can an error message that over 3000 (>5000 actually) weather stations are not reporting be a non-issue? First I don't know whether the weather from these stations is actually depicted even when I press OK and secondly since ActiveSky runs on a 2nd computer which is not in front of me I cannot see the warning message unless I actually check for it everytime. February 6, 201214 yr It can be a non-issue very easily. How many reporting wx stations are there worldwide?? Only one more than the number you (inclusive) find to be non-reporting? No and no again. Thousand and thousands. I have flown enough flights having OK'ed the non-reporting screen to know beyond a doubt that I will get good wx reportage for my planned flight. However I can certainly understand your not wanting to have to go to a perhaps inconveniently located computer each time you want to do a flight though. We each make our choices Allard Dan George (woodhick)Check out Greenbrier Aero Club, the VA for and about the GA pilot.

This issue has been reported previously for ASE with no real resolution recorded. I can recommend two things: first - start AS before you start FS and allow it to completely load the weather, second - should you encounter such a message, press the "refresh" button and get a new download.DJ
