Hi i am having problem understanding the cdu . Let me say first of all this is my first time using the CDU . I manage to land using it but only doing a manual flight with it . Which means i input the HDG that ATC gives me in a IFR Flight . I Want learn how to set the autopilote in the CDU to go as flight plan . An fallow the flight plan so i won't have to put the HDG an so on that ATC gives me. I know it don't mean much which one i use but i just want to get the steps right . So the aircraft can stop going in circle lol

Maybe another forum member will chip in, because I might skip some minor thingsFirst, start off with a real flight plan. try this one from LAX to LAS:http://flightaware.com/live/flight/UAL668/history/20120205/1640Z/KLAX/KLASIf your following the tutorial, it says to input a SID, that would be the LOOP6 part of the flightplan, so go to the DEPARR page, DEP for LAX, and select LOOP6 for the runway you are departing on.IF you can see the DAG in the flightplan, that is a waypoint for the flightplan, so go to the ROUTE page, click next page, and insert DAG on the RIGHT side on the next line availible.Finally, the STAR, go back to the DEPARR page, ARR for KLAS, then select KEPEC2KEPEC2 should have a number of ILS approaches, so select one, the go to the NAVRAD page, and I believe there should be a line with the ILS info, just select the line its on once, and you should be all set.Thats the LNAV part.

Thanks i will try that . Is just that the airport didn't had a SID its a payware airport so i guest the designer might have miss something .

If you don't mind me asking, which airport? most major airports have at least one SID, and thats standard for almost all major payware airports.

Its The New Cibao International in The Dominican republic it was a usuall flight from Cibao International to Luis Muno Marin in Puerto Rico .

But this is crazy right now the CDU is fallowing the flight plan an it didn't went in circle . I don't know what i did to it now but its working . I think i was the part of the ACT RTE 1 the part that saids VIA To I don't know what VIA means i guest its something that has to do with the current location of the aircraft to where it wants go in this case would be TJSJ which is for Luis Muno Marin International In Puerto Rico . But under VIA it saids DIRECT To TJSJ. If you know what this means please tell me . I got it right but its funny i don't know what i did lol

I didn't intend this as a tutorial when I made it, but it may help you out! Its a Full flight video starting from Cold and Dark. There are some audio embellishments that normally I wouldn't use. (Actual recorded cabin announcements from the real world flight.) so you can just ignore that.

Via means the airway it will be taking. If it says direct, then the FMC will guide the airplane straight to the airport, no vectors in, etc. just straight in.Ok, as per this flightplan between those two airports:http://flightaware.com/live/flight/EGF4805/history/20120202/2010Z/MDST/TJSJYou would start with the first waypoint SGO, and put that in the RIGHT side in the ROUTE page.Seeing as the route goes, it's SGO W29 PIXAR A636 KATOK A636 BQN, then the STAR RTE2.The bold letter/numbers go in the LEFT column, which is the VIA column. The letters that aren't in bold go in the RIGHT column, with selection of the STAR going as per the above posts.
