A brief question regarding X-Plane development

Featured Replies

Hello,It is great to hear confirmation that development for X-Plane is going ahead under the PMDG banner. I do wish to ask one question f I may:Will the development include support for the currently stable XP9.7 and XPX? Or will the PMDG products be exclusive for XPX?I fully understand if you folks cannot answer answer this and remains a "tbd".CheersTed

Ted-Too early to tell. We are still very early in the learning stages with Xplane. If I were to bet, however- I'd say we are XPX and higher... but that is based entirely on a desire to keep the initial implementation simple.

I've tried to get into Xplane over the years, bout 7, 8, and 9 but it just never clicked for me. I think part of it was the aircraft. Also, I like the view out the efront window and to me fsx has it covered there with all the addons I.E. Orbix etc. Be interesting to see where this goes. Xplane 10........Dave

The differences between XP9 and XP10 for aircraft development are not significantly different, there is a new jet engine model and of course new lighting options. It is not unreasonable to develop for V9 and then adapt to V10; however, given the time it could take to ease into x-plane development and PMDG was ready to release, it just might be that the V9 user base has shrunk enough to justify not worrying about it at all. If they decide to develop a prop aircraft, then the only real V10 feature will be lighting. Of course there are small tweaks here and there, but no deal killer. I'm sure PMDG will assess as they go. Welcome to the fray Rob, it's good to see you here.Tom KylerV10: F4/F22/KingAir/Baron/scenery
