Cleaning up the FSX directory

Featured Replies

Back in the old days when using fs2004 I believe there was a program that would search you (gauges) file and remove any files that are no longer associated with any A/C. This happens if the A/C is removed but all the gauges, effects, etc are left behind. Is there anything like this for FSX? Am sure I have a bunch of files in the FSX directory that needs to be cleaned up.

Just an aside, this very program broke a couple of my FS9 add ons a few years ago. I ended up having to reinstall them as gauges they relied on had been completely removed. I've made it a habit every few weeks of checking my FSX directory, root drive, and temp folder for things that are trash. ie Visual C++ dll files and the like.Either way, here is what I found: http://www.wolfgang-picheta.de/ "Flusifix". Looks like it's in another language, but maybe you can figure the program out as it looks to be the only offering besides FS Panel Studio (payware).

Flusifix is a great and powerful little utility and yes it is in English too. I am using Flusifix -2006 Version 5.0, and have been for several years and yes, it does have a gauge cleaner among many other things.

Interesting program. Are the changes made by Flusifix reversible? Does it, for example, automatically back up your files before modification? Thx
