Update Win7 from Win XP
After reading numerous topics it appears I can not just simply update from Win XP and have everything in FSX work, correct?? Currently have FSX in the 'C' programs (default) location. So am going to have to reinstall FSX and all the add-ons? Is there a step by step instruction link anywhere for the update I want to do? Thank You for any help.

Directx 10 and Winxp
Thanks. Looks like an OS upgrade is in my future. At least moving up to 64 bit.

Directx 10 and Winxp
Hello, I go in and out of having time for FSX so pardon my ignorance. I have a smooth system so I know I shouldn't mess with it but curios about Directx 10 and WinXP. My Direct 10 preview button has been missing for some time and I never really cared but after watching You Tube videos am envious of the VC shadows. I have an GEforce GTX 550 TI card with the 344.75 drivers. The FSX is SP2 and again, I did have the button years ago. When I ran 'dxdiag' it comes up with Direct 9.0c. What am I missing?? Do I need to upgrade to Win 7 or 8? Thanks.

Weather program for flight planning
Thanks, took a quick look at these. I want to do the planning myself (small A/C). Will ASN download real weather, save into FSX and print the weather?

Weather program for flight planning
What is a good (simple) program for downloading, installing and being able to print real weather. I can't print off the FSX default download. Want to dust off the EB6 and test my skills. Thanks

Monitor views?
Thanks again! I have slowing been shopping for 27” monitors. Big price jump when you go over that. Pardon my ignorance but how do I have one screen just for the gauges? Also, I did experiment with two screens, had to stretch out the windowed view which distorted the angle of view. Like I was sitting sideways in the cockpit seat. (BTW, I also use Track IR)

Monitor views?
Hi. If I went with a larger screen I would keep just the one view. If I went with the 19" I would have one front and one side. Don't want to buy additional hardware to hook up more than 2. Something else I guess to consider is I currently use full screen with the highest setting. I think I would have to use window view for more than one. I meant 19" in previous post

Monitor views?
Getting back in to FSX. I have a 23” wide screen LG monitor I use. I also have a few extra 15” in the closet. Because of the large desk I have, the monitor sits about 3’ from my seat. As I get older the little numbers in the gauges are harder to read. Although I would love to use the extra 15” for front and side view I think a (much) larger screen would work good too. Any thoughts?? Thanks

What product am I looking for? Roads
Thanks! I took a quick look at some pics of UTX. The roads look a bit cartoonish. I could be wrong though. Still might get it.

What product am I looking for? Roads
Am looking for more roads being represented in FSX, not just major highways. Is there an add-on that does this? I've been looking at FTXG and GEX but not sure if this is what am looking for. (although could for future purchase). Thanks.

Should I go for the i5?
Hi, I have any older MB/CPU that does pretty good at the moment. It's an Intel E5400 clocked to 2.7 coupled with an ASUS MB (P5QL-pro). Also an Asus TX550-ti Vid card. (I like ASUS). 4Gig memory. I can get around upper 30s away from airport and 15 at some of the major ones. I have an Orbx scenery that also hits 15, sliders on mid point, no shadows. On a buget and looking at these: Intel Core i5-3570K Ivy Bridge 3.4GHz ASUS P8Z77-V LK LGA 1155 Intel Z77 I'll prob have to replace memory too. What do you think? Worth it? About $320 right now.

Yoke a nd quadrant?
Any word if PFC (Precision flight controls) will be supported? I have the jetliner yoke and the throttle quadrant, both serial. Can't see myself purchasing any DLC without being able to use these….along with TIR.

PFC yoke
Still at work, haven't D/Led yet. Will my PFC yoke with Flight or am I stuck using a mouse? I see CH rudder pedals, just not the brakes? Thanks

Cleaning up the FSX directory
Back in the old days when using fs2004 I believe there was a program that would search you (gauges) file and remove any files that are no longer associated with any A/C. This happens if the A/C is removed but all the gauges, effects, etc are left behind. Is there anything like this for FSX? Am sure I have a bunch of files in the FSX directory that needs to be cleaned up.
