Whats the status? - Southwest Flight Deck Upgrades

Featured Replies

Hi guysJust curious if Southwest has received any of their planned upgrades to the 737-300 fleet? I read a while ago on Flight Global that delivery was to start early 2011. Is the project still active?See the article below...www.flightglobal.com/news/articles/picture-southwest-launches-737-300-cockpit-upgrade-with-boeing-and-ge-320450/

This program had been scrapped. All -300's are going to be phased out asap.

Yes I read somewhere that SW intend to retire all their Classics as early as this March? Bit of a shame, does it have anything to do with the fatigue problems causing the recent blowouts I wonder? I know that Southwest have some of the heaviest utilized aircraft in the industry, and their Classics are getting quite old in terms of cycles. They've got a bunch of new -800s arriving soon apparently, as well as the -700s and 717s from the Air Tran acquisition.

I hope they switch to -700 & -800 only!!! Those -300 are way too old for service, especially for a fast moving company like Southwest!
