February 17, 201214 yr http://www.microcent...duct_id=0384721It seems to be a higher binned 2500K... Edited February 17, 201214 yr by benorg
February 17, 201214 yr As far as I can remember the i5 2550K have the GPU deactivated. Intel surely have a pile of SandyBridge chips that have a defect GPU part but otherwise functional. Problem is that the price isn't lower than 2500K. Both are unlocked. 2500K have a functioning GPU and is selling for less...
February 17, 201214 yr I think there's a reason to be skeptical with the whole Intel binning stuff based on what happened with the 930 vs 920, 950 vs 930, 2600K vs 2700K... and the list goes on and on.I know Corey's linear regression off the data at overclock.net showed a 100MHz higher OC for the 2700K vs 2600K but the 2700K sample is still very small for it to be meaningful IMHO. On the other hand, the comparison should be against 2600K's released post 2700K if they were supposed to start binning when the 2700K was out. This time around, like Lars said, it's a 2500K without an IGP.I don't know. Intel does this all the time and personally I don't think they will waste resources in binning chips when the OC enthusiasts are just a fraction of the market anyway. It's probably just a gimmick aimed at those who always need the latest & greatest and think that newer is always better & faster
February 17, 201214 yr I'm wondering if it's not just a way to sell chips with defects in the iGPU section.
