Why install in Progam files and not Program Files(X86)?

Featured Replies

Should be in neither one. Install outside of program files to avoid all the UAC crap. But to answere your question, Program files are for 64 bit applications, Program files X86 are 32 bit applications. I created a directory C: FS2004 for it to install into. You must create it to tell the installer where to put FS2004.

There is nothing wrong with installing FS9 under Program Files provided you change the permissions to allow you full access to all the simulator's folders and files therein. It's not difficult to do this and this is how my system is set up. However, if you are not confident in changing permissions then installing the sim directly under the root of C: is the best way forward.David

mines in program files always has been for years, never had any major issues, im running win 7

 Intel I7 12700KF / 32 GB Ram-3600mhz / Windows 11 - 64 bit / NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060TI / 32" Acer Monitor, Honeycomb alpha/bravo, CH rudder pedals, Tobii 5, Buttkicker, Logitech radio panel.

Do you have UAC turned off?How many changes have you attempted to make to any .cfg file? Are you using XP, or VIista-Win7?

Yep and with UAC off you are taking the risk of programs installing themselves onto your system without you having a clue that they are doing so.

You can always use TweakUAC which is a very good alternative...http://www.tweak-uac.com/home/Mark
