February 17, 201214 yr I see alot on forums about installing FS9 in c: program files and not Program Files(X86). What is the benefits of this? Is it worth reinstalling all my FS9 software that way? Thanks,Greg Greg Moore KFMH https://forum.pmdg.com/filedata/fetch?id=127275&d=1622041469&type=thumb
February 17, 201214 yr Should be in neither one. Install outside of program files to avoid all the UAC crap. But to answere your question, Program files are for 64 bit applications, Program files X86 are 32 bit applications. I created a directory C: FS2004 for it to install into. You must create it to tell the installer where to put FS2004. Edited February 17, 201214 yr by Barnstormer1 ArDee
February 17, 201214 yr There is nothing wrong with installing FS9 under Program Files provided you change the permissions to allow you full access to all the simulator's folders and files therein. It's not difficult to do this and this is how my system is set up. However, if you are not confident in changing permissions then installing the sim directly under the root of C: is the best way forward.David
February 17, 201214 yr mines in program files always has been for years, never had any major issues, im running win 7 Intel I7 12700KF / 32 GB Ram-3600mhz / Windows 11 - 64 bit / NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060TI / 32" Acer Monitor, Honeycomb alpha/bravo, CH rudder pedals, Tobii 5, Buttkicker, Logitech radio panel.
February 17, 201214 yr Do you have UAC turned off?How many changes have you attempted to make to any .cfg file? Are you using XP, or VIista-Win7?
February 17, 201214 yr Author I run Vista 64bit. I turned off UAC and run all my flight sim stuff as admin. Everything seems to run well. Greg Moore KFMH https://forum.pmdg.com/filedata/fetch?id=127275&d=1622041469&type=thumb
February 17, 201214 yr Yep and with UAC off you are taking the risk of programs installing themselves onto your system without you having a clue that they are doing so.
February 18, 201214 yr You can always use TweakUAC which is a very good alternative...http://www.tweak-uac.com/home/Mark
