Having trouble installing 600/700

Featured Replies

I need a little advice on installing the 600/700. Tried to install earlier today and had problems like not loading the visual model error when selecting the 600 in Free Flight and corrupted textures. I think I know now waht the problem was but want to ask here before I botch things up any further. As of now I went ahead and uninstalled the 600/700 and have downloaded the "PMDG_737_8900_NGX_SP1b as this seems to be a neccessary precurser. Here's where I'm not sure what to do, let me explain........when I run the SP1b update it tells me " The setup has detected that version 1.00.3116 is already installed and This setup is not compatible with this version, You will have to uninstall nthe previous version before installing this version". OK, this seems to be correct because that's the version listed in the aircraft.cfg file. So if I uninstall 1.00.3116 does the "SP1b" file reinstall the complete 800/900 base program and then I'm good to go ahead and install the 600/700??Thanks,Steve

(bump) :( Sorry to bump so soon, but I'm really anxious to get the 600/700 going. Maybe I'm making this overly complex. Basically I have version 1.00.3116 installed (working fine) and want to install the 600/700. What do I need to uninstall/install to make this happen? Thanks,Steve

Okay i'm confused just reading your post blum.gif..ha haSo you uninstalled the 6/700 expansion, then tried re installing it...but without uninstalling the NGX Base/8/900?If that's the case then it seems your NGX base installation is already on the latest SP. Go ahead and install the 6/700....Although if you were having some issues with loading and such I'd suggest you uninstall the NGX Base as well, then start from scratch. In my case, that means installing the first RTM version, downloading/installing SP1b, then installing 6/700 expansion, then the SP1b for it.

:( Yeah, I sometimes don't explain myself very well. I think your last paragraph explains what I must do. It seems that SP1b doesn't play nicely with 1.00.3116. So I guess I have to start from scratch then. Thanks for helping,Steve

1.00.3116 was a typo when sp1b first released. Aside from later correcting that number, 1.00.3116 and 1.00.3118 are identical.EDIT: In other words, if your installer is 1.00.3116 you don't need sp1b

Uh Oh, Now that you say that, I'd thought I had installed SP1b but when I had trouble with the 600/700 install and saw that the aircraft.cfg had the "wrong" number I started to doubt myself. Maybe at this point I should just go ahead and uninstall everything anyway and just start fresh. So I guess, like Patrick said, (1)install original file, (2)update with SP1b, (3) install 600/700, (4)not really sure if I need the SP1b for 600/700 since I just purchased that but I guess it will tell me if I try and it is already in my version. Thanks Ken,Steve

:( OK, uninstalling everything and then re-installing seems to have done the trick. Don't think I have to run the SP1b on the 600/700 as the aircraft config on those models already says 3118 so it must have been incorporated in the expansion pack I downloaded. Again, THANKS to all who took the time to help me out :( .Steve

The files are always up to date at the time you download them - if you just downloaded it recently, it definitely has SP1b already integrated. In that case what you'd want to do is just make sure the 800/900 is at SP1b first, then install the 600/700.
