March 10, 200422 yr I have recently installed the California and Arizona with a little of Las Vegas from Rob Gainer and I must say I am impressed. It does seem to greatly improve the visual qaulity of the mountains and trees, and perhaps some of the landclass as well. I am however surpriesed it didn't get rid of the snow in Las Vegas which I was hoping. I don't know why but snow in Las Vegas really bugs me because it is really unrealistic to have. I wish there was a way to get rid of it. So my question is does Rob Gainer's Nevada scenery improve the landclass in Las Vegas to get rid of the snow or is this just something you have to live with. I am now having to just change the season to spring or summer or fall until November and the snow will again appear in late November or December.I was wondering also if Western Texas has irrigational fields instead of the blotches of darker desert with a yellowish brownish ground. I guess I would just have to download and install but I would like some idea to. Any info would be appreciated.Thank You,
March 10, 200422 yr I can take a stab at it. I only downloaded Oklahoma (cause I'm a sooner) and emailed Rob because I didn't see a difference in the landclass and wanted to see what I was doing wrong. If I misrepresent him on this, it's not intentional. He said that I had installed it correctly and to look for changes in the elevations because that's what the mesh was supposed to do. In my observation, the landclass did not change at all and the textures on the ground are the same. IE Oklahoma is half desert half crops in FS-not fo true in real life. So, I'd say those textures you don't like on the ground would probably still be there. If that helps, great, if not, I'll deny having said it!
March 10, 200422 yr Mesh and Landclass are two very different thingsGet a box of matches and break them all into different lengths - then arrange them vertically in a grid - Then drape a piece of transparent silk over themThat is MeshNow get some paint and splash different colours all over the silk - That is LandclassOne does not affect the otherHope that helps
March 10, 200422 yr Should I install the E-Z landclass for fs2004 and try that after I install his scenery. I would like to put the irrigational fields that are near Denver Intl on the sim into other areas that have these circular irrigation fields. Areas that have them in real life are Garden City, Kansas parts of Eastern New Mexico and Western Texas, Oklahoma and I suppose some even around Denver and some areas that are in between Deserts and croplands that are green. I have it with fs2002 and there just doesn't seem to have enough of a variety of textures for fs2002. Should I unintall the E-Z Landclass for fs2002 before installing fs2004 version? Also how would I just make the mountains a desert color or orange-brown color near Las Vegas and get rid of the snow for all seasons? My hope in the future for flight simulator is that satalite imagery will be more common place. You can't argue with satalite but you can with landclass to determine how realistic it is. Do you know if Rob Gainer is going to do landclass after his mesh work is finished with the US? Thank You,
March 10, 200422 yr I went the commercial route and dished out the $10 for FSGenesis' land class. Hard to beat for ten dollars. In my hands, E-Z landclass was not so easy. Plus, FSG's landclass has already been updated a bunch of times in the year or so since I bought it... [email protected] | 32gb RAM | EVGA GTX1080 8gb | Mostly P3Dv5 (also IL2:BoX, DCS, XP11)
March 11, 200422 yr Ozzie is very much correct.Mesh and land class are like day and night, mesh cannot change land class.I agree, snow in Vegas!EZ- Land Class isnt too hard, and its free, you should be able to get a grasp of this program in a short time.I do know there will be the whol USA - Canada re done ( Land Class ) , Freeware , soon !Watch the files section , in the not so distant future.Rober L Gainer
March 11, 200422 yr KurtIf you are already comfortable using E-Z landclass then by all means get the latest version for FS2004 and make your own adjustmentsIt will probably be slightly different but the principle should be the same - just more textures to choose from

March 20, 200422 yr Rob,It seems with all the problems on AVSIM the last week, I can't find any of your mesh. Is it available somewhere else, or will you re-upload it to avsim? Thanks for all your hard work in advance, I'mm really looking forward to getting some of your work !!Gary
March 20, 200422 yr Type in Rob Gainer with your internet search & you'll find the answers. In the meantime, there are two more mesh sets out as freeware from other authors that are in 38.2m ------ that will cover the Las Vegas area.
March 20, 200422 yr Also, see AVSIM's announcement:http://forums.avsim.net/dcboard.php?az=sho...g_id=1683&page=
March 20, 200422 yr Thanks for the reply. I didnt read the full thread, but i guess there is a problem with Mr Gainer.I will have to look at other mesh solutions. I have only just started reading about mesh and landclass addons, so i will do some homework and pick out a few to try.I was hoping for a complete USA solution, and Mr Gainers work seemed to be the closest thing to a complete set. But, I am sure there are others that will work well together. Thanks again.Gary
