February 22, 201214 yr Calling all SSD experts:My FSX is stored on a 120gb SSD. I have a couple of maintenance questions. 1) should I ensure TRIM is enabled? Is there any downside to this? (I have of course disabled any automatic defragging in Win 7)2) I use O&O disk image regularly (and certainly before trying any add-on or driver change) to image the entire PC. This includes my mechanical OS drive. If I upgrade the SSD to a larger drive one day, will I be able to restore the image of the old SSD to the larger SSD? (I know this expansion concept works with mechanical drives... does it also work with SSDs?)Thanks
February 23, 201214 yr Hi,TRIM is natively enabled, and it is a command that is used by OS that support that function, for example, Windows 7. And you want to have TRIM, do not disable it!You can use any image software to back up or transfer your FSX content to another SSD, as long as you have it imaged properly, you will not have any issues. Just make sure you retain the same drive letter, for example, if it was in E: the new drive should be E:.Thanks,Tom
February 23, 201214 yr Do not defrag your SSD EVER, make sure automatic defragging in Win 7 is disable.
February 23, 201214 yr Author Thanks all. Reassuring to know that I will be able to migrate easily to a bigger FSX SSD as my hangar expands! I guess now there's no excuse not to save up for FS Global Ultimate Terrain...
