February 25, 201214 yr If someone knows about the GPS 500 and approach hold could they please post some really clear instructions on how to use them. I can use the GPS for direct- to waypoint, but I'm not sure about the procedures for approach. I want to use it to land but I don't understand it. I also want to use the approach hold switch as well.
February 25, 201214 yr Unless the aircraft is equipped with a WAAS capable GPS unit, approach hold won't do anything. Lateral guidance maybe, but the vertical guidance on a precision or LPV approach is only available with a WAAS reciever doing the work, and only on a WAAS approved approach....I assume you are referring to the default GPS? The default GPS isn't capable of this type of approach, but the reality xp units are... Edited February 25, 201214 yr by felixthreeone
