Using GPS and APP Hold?

If someone knows about the GPS 500 and approach hold could they please post some really clear instructions on how to use them. I can use the GPS for direct- to waypoint, but I'm not sure about the procedures for approach. I want to use it to land but I don't understand it. I also want to use the approach hold switch as well.

Unless the aircraft is equipped with a WAAS capable GPS unit, approach hold won't do anything. Lateral guidance maybe, but the vertical guidance on a precision or LPV approach is only available with a WAAS reciever doing the work, and only on a WAAS approved approach....I assume you are referring to the default GPS? The default GPS isn't capable of this type of approach, but the reality xp units are...

I'd recommend doing a little reading on the subject, either this excellent site:http://www.navfltsm.addr.com/Or my favorite, stoenworks:http://stoenworks.com/Aviation%20home%20page.htmlBut basically you won't use the default GPS with APP or APR mode ever.
