February 28, 201214 yr Author :( - means I like it. It does this --->http://myspace.voo.b...s/Page2416.html Thanks. The site you linked to is quite old. Were none of these issues corrected in the FSX servicepacks? Simmerhead - Making the virtual skies unsafe since 1987!
February 28, 201214 yr Actually everything concerning modified terrain.cfg is pretty old, it was released 5 years ago. To be honest, I was never really checking the differences in terrain.cfg after FS X SP1 or SP2 or Acceleration pack or compared it with the modified file by Ludowise&Tirado. I just simply put it in and am happy with results. If you make a backup of the original, what can you loose in case you are not happy with it? Fly S A F E ! Andrej Drobun http://www.slo4fsx.si

February 28, 201214 yr The service packs did not fix any issues addressed in the altered terrain.cfg file. The file itself can be opened with notepad, and it can be examined to see what it does. Some terrain packages have their own terrain.cfg file. They usually have an option to install over this version, to retain some of it's components.Dick

I heard of someone that always installed this modified cfg file straight after installing FSX. Now I'll be doing the same alongside ORBX car traffic slowdown patch. February 28, 201214 yr The mod terrain.cfg is nice, but it would have been better if MS distributed it as part of an SP. Reason being if you design terrain that uses it you have the problem of ensuring that users have it on their system if you release your scenery. For example there's lots of interesting shorelines from FS9 that can be used by FSX terrain if you have the mod cfg. The default cfg has effectively 3 shoreline options, the 50m wide white sand "ocean", and a 10m and 5m wide "lake". To me the 5m is just about invisible so I never use it.scott s..
