No Beacon Light?

Featured Replies

I see no beacon light on this aircraft, but I do see a reflection against the rear of the fuselage as if there was a beacon light hitting it. Any idea why?

Nope. There is a rotating beacon on the aircraft. No strobes, but there is a beacon :). It's up on the top of the tail.

I know there is a beacon light on top of the tail, but it doesn't turn on and that's what I'm having problems with.

OK, I'll look at mine tonight. I'm in the middle of moving things from one computer to another so I may or may not get to it, but I'll try. Back in a few hours :).

Thanks!

Yup, it's there:Beacon1.jpgMy reflexes aren't fast enough to catch it when it's lit (it is a rotating beacon so only flashes periodically - it shouldn't stay on steadily). Did you check that your Master switch is on? As in real life, the electrics are tied to the Master, so if it's not on, neither will any of your lights be (except the interior I believe). But I sat there and watched it flash several times (trying to grab a screenie each time but missing :) ).Hope that helps.

I know it's not suppose to stay on steadly. Like I said, you can see a flash of beacon light reflecting from the side of the fuselage, but the beacon light itself doesn't turn on at all. Doesn't blink or rotate as it should. I want to try and use A2A 3D lights, but if the beacon was not coded on this aircraft, the A2A lights wont work either.

Well, not sure what to say. Mine does flash. It's not perfect as it sits a hair off centre of the beacon itself, but I can see a point flash, and I can see the reflection off the fuselage as well. Don't know why you can't though. Presumably it's the same airplane. Sorry :).

Thanks Glenn for trying. It's the same HD Carenado C185F. I'll see if reinstalling it helps to correct the problem.

Are you using the Bush or standard version? That might make a difference (mine is the Bush)

I'm using the Bush too.

Hmmn, well you should see it then. Not much more I can say as mine works fine, and they should be the same. Sorry... .

No problem, thanks for helping.

I downloaded and installed the C185 bush package yesterday and on my computer (sorry to say that Johnny) the beacon is there and active (if switched on).

Hi Jonny, yesterday I had the same issue: No beacon. This happened after I changed from the default 172 into the 185. I closed FSX and started the 185 from the start and there it was again. And it stayed there even after changing back and forth to and from the 172. I have no idea why this happened but it was definitely not there the first time (no matter what switches I turned on and off in the cockpit). Btw: I think that also the nav-lights were not there...Did you try to start up with the 185 directly or did you use other planes before entering the 185?Best regards, T.
