  1. +1 For bush flying it's great
  2. If you want to visit Alaska go to the page of "return to misty moorings" They have a lot of flights from airports to the remote areas but also to asphalt or concrete landing strips. And if you are still on FSX you can use the good old Beaver to discover some places you have dreamed of. ..
  3. Sorry, but I couldn't care less... I hope that LM does not invest one minute of development time in this "issue". They have certainly enough other topics to deal with.
  4. Same here. Performance of RC3 together with SkymaxxPro is outstanding.
  5. Yes that is my experience as well. And I agree: If you want to cut your loading times then you should invest in a SSD. These are quite cheap at the moment. I have my main sim on a dedicated SSD and that realy is great. the initial loading times are considerably shorter than from a HDD. Well worth the 60 Euros I spend on that SSD
  6. I did exactly the same step last weekend and my impression is that it has improved the simming experience quite a bit. I am, however, most of the time on X-Plane 10.50 but also did a test flight with P3D and was impressed how the "new" system handles that. Please keep in mind that you need the 6700k if you want to OC the CPU. Mine is still running not over clocked but with a turbo speed of 4.2 Ghz. For me the new experience is well worth the costs and efforts.
  7. Well... "awful" is a strong word! Frankly I suggest that you think about your settings in P3D since your computer is as good as it gets! I doubt that either of your suggestet upgrades will make a noticable improvement. But if you suffer to hard please let me know. I have a i7 2600k and GTX 780 that run P3D fairly well to trade against your i7 4770K and GTX 1080
  8. Ahh, Thanks, Jan, for clarification! So you airport-builders will have to go through all the WED-airports to corret those parking positions? Maybe LM can rewrite the WED-tool so that the "misc" places are in general switched to "gate" if close to a building or "tie-down" if far from a building. Otherwise I am afraid that this great new feature will take years until it will be generally available... With regard to the FPS: I have very nice FPS everywere, but over London. Vancouver is 25 to 30 (autogen maxed out!) and even over NYC I have 12 to 20. Only London gets me down to 5 to 8 after take off from Heathrow. Strange is that NYC or Vancouver look much better then London. I couldn't check EDDF because EDDF is not loading up at all (crashes while scenery is loading). Happy Landings!
  9. Strange things happen here: I see the new static AI aircraft in Heathrow (lots) but only very few elsewere (two in Vancouver Intl.) but none in KJFK or KBOS. Over London I have 6 FPS in NYC 16 ...
  10. Good news indeed. Looks as if the next generation of gpu are just right for the next generation of x-plane. Exciting times. ..
  11. I have the "world-models-master.zip", the "world-models0.7.6.tar.bz2" and the "w2xp-world-models:ext-LOD.7z" (and many more) libraries installed. Would I see a benefit from downloading any newer version?
  12. I second that! Almost no impact here!
  13. Working very well here too: good improvement on the performance. Especially the regular freezes I had with 3.0 are gone under normal conditions. One thought thou: Way do the landing lights illuminate the clouds (very nice btw) but the flash lights (and the taxi light either) don't? Would be great to see them too.
  14. I am not so sure if this is a good development. I trust that most people find – maybe after some painful playing around – their (individual) golden spot. That will depend widely on what you fly and were you fly it! Your certainly need different settings if you are the tube-flyer as if you fly helicopters in urban areas or if you are the bush-flyer. What would be really helpful would be a better understanding (feed-back from x-plane) as to why things are going slow: If there would be a message saying “you are running out of VRAM” or “your CPU is at its limit” together with some suggestions for adjustments of the settings this would be helpful. Or maybe even some “setup-find-your-sweet-spot-tutorial” or at least an indication as to what sliders have what impact (on CPU or GPU usage – I still miss that in all simulators). Now: What I don’t understand (maybe a lack of understanding the software itself) why it is impossible to change the sliders “on the fly” and automatically. What I mean is this: If you are sitting on the ground you need ultra-high resolution ground textures and mesh settings but you don’t need clouds in 80 miles distance and certainly no extended dsf! If you climb out and are over 5000 ft you start to need the cloud distance and later the extended dsf but you don’t need any more the high resolution ground textures or the high resolution mesh or detail road traffic. And there are certainly many more settings that could be traded off against each other. I understand that some settings can’t be changed on the fly (because there are “fixed” when preloading is done) but with more powerful hardware couldn’t it be done that there is a second x-plane-process loaded in the background (with the other settings) and then switched when it is ready?
  15. Great, I'll look into this shortly. Happy landings Docbird
  16. Thanks, Toni and Tomcat! Your responses are much appreciated! I installed Firefox and that made it possible for me to download the photoscenery from zonephoto. The Internet Explorer refused to install the applet. Now everything works fine! Very fine, indeed! Happy landings, DocBird
  17. Thanks, Tony! That was a very good idea! I searched for one of the files and found out that - for whatever reason - some of the "Objects"-Folders that are a part of the w2xl_europe-package have not been copied to the custom scenery folder. Now I struggle with the download of photoscenery from zonephote.x-plane.fr ... I just can't convince the browser to start that xxxx applet. Anyway, thanks again for your help and this amazing Software!
  18. Okay, Angelo, I would do so if I would know how
  19. Yes I assume so. But the Log-text is 12 MB and I think it would be a bit too much to post it completely... But If it is of help I could send it to you by PM.
  20. I can't get "world2xp_europe" (downloaded it from Simheaven) to work. When I start XP it claims that it can't find certain libraries although I re-downloaded them all (ff-library_extended-LOD, world-models_ext-lod, R2, Europe_library, OpenSceneryX,RD_Library, and many more). Log-text says: "Xsaitekpanels: xsaitekpanels.ini is version 2.33 Xsaitekpanels: channelspacing833enable == 0 0:00:02.521 I/GPS: Added 19079 airports to the GPS database 0:00:02.521 I/FLT: Init dat_p0 type:loc_tak apt:EDDF rwy:07C 0:00:02.521 E/SCN: Failed to find resource 'test/AGtrees_test.for', referenced from file 'Resources/default scenery/airport scenery/Modern_Airports/Control_Towers/'. 0:00:02.521 E/SCN: Failed to find resource 'test/AGtrees_test.for', referenced from file 'Resources/default scenery/airport scenery/Vintage_Airports/Control_Towers/'. 0:00:02.521 E/SCN: Failed to find resource 'test/AGtrees_test.for', referenced from file 'Resources/default scenery/airport scenery/Common_Elements/Misc_Buildings/'. 0:00:02.521 E/SCN: Failed to find resource 'test/AGtrees_test.for', referenced from file 'Resources/default scenery/airport scenery/Common_Elements/Misc_Buildings/'. 0:00:02.521 I/SCN: DSF load time: 1018933 for file Custom Scenery/Global Airports/Earth nav data/+40+000/+49+009.dsf (0 tris) 0:00:02.521 I/SCN: DSF load time: 1422781 for file Custom Scenery/Global Airports/Earth nav data/+40+000/+49+007.dsf (0 tris) 0:00:02.521 I/SCN: DSF load time: 389009 for file Custom Scenery/RescueX_Lib/Earth nav data/+40+000/+49+007.dsf (0 tris) 0:00:02.521 E/SCN: Failed to find resource 'objects/9/49/parts/part_285456143w.obj', referenced from scenery package 'Custom Scenery/w2xp_Europe/'. 0:00:02.521 E/SCN: Custom Scenery/w2xp_Europe/Earth nav data/+40+000/+49+009.dsf: 0:00:02.521 E/SCN: Unable to locate object: objects/9/49/parts/part_285456143w.obj 0:00:02.521 E/SCN: Failed to find resource 'objects/9/49/parts/part_326217676w.obj', referenced from scenery package 'Custom Scenery/w2xp_Europe/'. 0:00:02.521 E/SCN: Custom Scenery/w2xp_Europe/Earth nav data/+40+000/+49+009.dsf: 0:00:02.521 E/SCN: Unable to locate object: objects/9/49/parts/part_326217676w.obj 0:00:02.521 E/SCN: Failed to find resource 'objects/9/49/parts/part_325210279w.obj', referenced from scenery package 'Custom Scenery/w2xp_Europe/'. 0:00:02.521 E/SCN: Custom Scenery/w2xp_Europe/Earth nav data/+40+000/+49+009.dsf: 0:00:02.521 E/SCN: Unable to locate object: objects/9/49/parts/part_325210279w.obj 0:00:02.521 E/SCN: Failed to find resource 'objects/9/49/parts/part_285476112w.obj', referenced from scenery package 'Custom Scenery/w2xp_Europe/'. 0:00:02.521 E/SCN: Custom Scenery/w2xp_Europe/Earth nav data/+40+000/+49+009.dsf: 0:00:02.521 E/SCN: Unable to locate object: objects/9/49/parts/part_285476112w.obj 0:00:02.521 E/SCN: Failed to find resource 'objects/9/49/parts/part_59922202r.obj', referenced from scenery package 'Custom Scenery/w2xp_Europe/'. 0:00:02.521 E/SCN: Custom Scenery/w2xp_Europe/Earth nav data/+40+000/+49+009.dsf: 0:00:02.521 E/SCN: Unable to locate object: objects/9/49/parts/part_59922202r.obj 0:00:02.521 E/SCN: Failed to find resource 'objects/9/49/parts/part_128493198r.obj', referenced from scenery package 'Custom Scenery/w2xp_Europe/'. 0:00:02.521 E/SCN: Custom Scenery/w2xp_Europe/Earth nav data/+40+000/+49+009.dsf: 0:00:02.521 E/SCN: Unable to locate object: objects/9/49/parts/part_128493198r.obj 0:00:02.521 E/SCN: Failed to find resource 'objects/9/49/parts/part_323775801r.obj', referenced from scenery package 'Custom Scenery/w2xp_Europe/'. 0:00:02.521 E/SCN: Custom Scenery/w2xp_Europe/Earth nav data/+40+000/+49+009.dsf: 0:00:02.521 E/SCN: Unable to locate object: objects/9/49/parts/part_323775801r.obj 0:00:02.521 E/SCN: Failed to find resource 'objects/9/49/parts/part_285476121r.obj', referenced from scenery package 'Custom Scenery/w2xp_Europe/'. ..." And it goes on for thousand of similar entries... Any ideas what is missing? Any help is appreciated!
  21. Maybe someone who is a developer could contact the guys from "return to misty moorings", convince them to port over their stuff to XP and help them with the conversation.
  22. Not for me either. Downloaded it and (so far) all is well
  23. Did anyone experience any issues with this new beta so far?
  24. Hmm, David, you mean the red bull air race they develop? Likely more an arcade game then a Simulator, isn't it? Couldn't find much about it on Google. Anyway anything about new flightsim "games" is welcome!
