How to get Saitek Trim wheel working with flight?

Featured Replies

Welcome to Avsim and thanks for participating in our forum.

It is very kind of you to propose a solution for this old problem.

The Avsim Forum system has different topics and each with its own forum. Microsoft Flight Simulator X was the previous version of the Flight Simulator franchise. It was released in 2006 and has a separate forum that you can find here:

http://forum.avsim.n...1-ms-fsx-forum/

This is the Microsoft Flight Forum. Flight was released at the beginning of this year (2012) and is the latest version of the Flight Simulator franchise. Unfortunately, just like FS X, Flight was also canceled by Microsoft.

One of the most important aspects of Microsoft Flight is the simplification of all aspects. The developers carefully studied usage, saw what was rarely used, and either simplified that or completely eliminated it. The goal was to make Flight more accessible to many more users than FS ever had, specifically those users who found previous versions of FS much too complex.

Among the elements that were simplified, Controller Settings no longer provide much of the complexity that previously existed. So, your solution is sadly no longer relevant for Flight.

But, many thanks for taking part and you are most welcome at Avsim. :drinks:

Best regards.

Thanks Luis! Sorry about that. This forum topic was first in Google search relevance, even though my search was specifically for MS Flight X. I didn't happen to look at the headers. In any case, I bet others will stumble aboard here also looking for that same question to be answered! I joined this community just to post that solution there....but I will make sure to browse around and enjoy the show! Again, thank you for your kind message. Some forums the moderators get outright cranky! :drinks:

As Luis stated, MS Flight was designed to be much easier to use than the other sims. Essentially, when you plug an external controller in, the program recognizes it and attempts to make the proper assignments. You still have the ability to make some changes to the assignments, but I don't think the Saitek trim wheel will work as you wish it to.

I have the CH products yoke and I use two buttons on the left horn for trim in both FSX and Flight as I could never get the trim wheel to work just right either.

So, if we're talking about Flight, you might not get it to work. If you're talking about FSX, then I can move this topic to the proper forum and you might stand a better chance of getting an answer from someone that has done this.

Thank you.

Rick
