March 24, 200422 yr Adding to the appreciation theme as well... The file library has never been my main reason for coming here... It's the atmosphere, and the mix of fellow hobbyists on the forums. I am sure in time the team here will get things worked out--this site has been outstanding in performance and reliability since I joined years back.... Great work to all who labor to keep this site going...-John
March 24, 200422 yr I will add my support and thanks to avsim.com for providing the best website on the internet for Flight Simulation enthusiasts.Your file library is second to none (fast downloads a real bonus on my DSL connection) and your product reviews are the most unbiased and well-written I have read (and that's from a journalist)Look forward to it all working again. I'll be patient!AdamAdam Moorewww.hhuk.netWin XP Pro - Dell Dimension 4500P4 2.54 GHz - 1GB RAMHightech Radeon 9800Pro Ice QAudiophile 24/96FS2004 + UK2000 1/2/3/4/5/6/EGLL PROOSS EGKK / Wonderful RioUK VFR 1/2/3/4The Ultimate VFR flying machine: RealAir SF-260
March 24, 200422 yr I'm going to agree with John on this. Plus.... You don't charge a fee to access the library as some others do. If anyone is going to make money off my Freeware, it's going to be me.Thanks Guys. I will make a donation if necessary.Joe W.
March 24, 200422 yr wasn't going to reply to this, but then I thought hey, yes, I should. Thank you avsim, even though you nuke my posts, hehe, this is my homepage. A really cool site, and yes, I got my patience back. Good thing too, hehe. All joking aside, I spend many hours on fs9, and all of my copious addons are a result of reading these boards. So really, thank you, avsim. Very much.....billg
March 24, 200422 yr Yeah, I miss the library - but not having it just goes to show how much I take it for granted. It's free, after all!You Avsim blokes are the top bananas.Rob
March 26, 200422 yr Just to "bump" this with an update -- see the front page. The SATA controller was kaputt (edit: no it wasn't, sigh...) -- we think the cache on the controller developed a bitwise error. New controller installed last night and exhaustive integrity check now running on the entire Library.Edit: Spoke too soon. Exhaustive integrity check showed identical problems occurring -- mainboard RAM now in the firing line. No good news yet...--M
March 26, 200422 yr Hang in there! We're patient on our end. When I was a network admin, I spend many nights sleeping on a couch at work waiting for servers to come back online. I know the feeling when absolutely nothing goes right. ------------------------- Craig from KBUF
March 26, 200422 yr If it's any consolation I'm enjoying the speed of the Forums while the file library is down. x:)~Cheers,Jim
March 26, 200422 yr Yes the forums are noticeably faster. However ,as a total download junkie - I'm starting to get withdrawal symptons - even going so far as to try downloading from other places such as "all nodes are busy"( I only tried - haven't the patience to keep on logging in endlessly )Seriously- I'm sure everyone will be glad to see the library back up and running - the absence of it makes you realise just how much of an assett it is to the FS community- I don't believe there is anywhere else that has such a large and wide ranging selection of files so readily availableGood luck to you guys fixing it - I know it'll be worth waiting for.Dave
