March 11, 201214 yr HiI've been using RC4 for absolutely ages with no issues whatso ever. However today when trying a flight from KSFO to KLAX I load up at the gate and as soon as I start RC it makes my aircraft jump to the centre of the airport. I've tried with a few flightplans now and everytime it make my plane jump to the departure airport, even if I'm somehwere else. The on screen menu also fails to load after this. The only things I've recently installed on my computer are, FS2Crew NGX, Flightbeam KSFO, and FSDT's KLAX and KLAS.Any help will be gratefully appreciated. Gavin Price
March 11, 201214 yr Usually that symptom reflects a difference in coordinates of the departure airport and RC's data.First, make sure that you have the current FSUIPC and makerwys from these two locations, then rebuild the RC scenery database.http://forum.simflight.com/topic/66139-updated-modules/http://forum.simflight.com/topic/66136-useful-additional-programs/Also check the coordinates in the flight plan.If you have FSX and FS9 installation be sure you declare the correct FS path for the RC FS version installation folder (rcv4 or rcv4x) so the data matches the sim scenery for that version. The coordinates for the airport reference point that RC checks against are in the data folder. Make a safe copy of a4.csv and then you can open it in word or notepad, search for the ICAO code, and get the coordinates in decimal notation as:KSFO, , 37.61876 ,-122.3749 ,-15.6 , 13 , 11861 from FS9.that translates two 37 degrees, 37 min, 07 sec. N and 122 deg, 22 min, 29 sec W.In your flight plan that should also agree. The next thing to check is that there are no competing afd type scenery files and in your case Flightbeam KSFO has priority. To see the highest priority handed to RC go to your fs folder and open the file runways.txt in word (it is huge so do not use notepad).Do a search for KSFO. The first instance will be the FS default. The first line of the section indicates the path to the scenery and for the default it would go to an APxxxxxx.bgl file. Move the cursor down to the next airport and repeat the search. From this point on there should be two sections for add-ons. Each pair consists of a deletion section and a section with runways and other data. note the path to the scenery add-on at the head of each section. Continue searching for the last pair and in your case it should point to your KSFO add-on. The last pair has priority and RC calculates the airport center based on the runways in the scenery. Here is my data (in part) for Fly-Tampa's KSFO published by Aerosoft for FS9:=============================================================================Area.177 "US-Airports-SanFrancisco" (Layer=181)Local=aerosoftU.S. AirportsSanFrancisco=============================================================================aerosoftU.S. AirportsSanFranciscosceneryaf2_flytampa_ksfo.bgl=============================================================================Deletions check for Airport KSFO: Delete all taxiways! March 12, 201214 yr Author Thanks for the reply Ron. The fix turned out to be updating FSUIPC and MakeRunways. Thank you so much Gavin Price
April 7, 201214 yr Author Just an update on this issue. It has returned. I checked the files you mentioned Ron but to be honest I'm struggling to see what I'm looking for. I'm going to send a log to JD with the flight plan and also the av.csv. I'd tried updating FSUIPC and Makernwys and also rebuilding the scenery db via RC but it hasn't worked this time. EDIT- Just an update. Using default scenery works. Its happening now at UK2000 EGLL. The only way to get round it is to load the plane up at default scenery then switch the payware scenery on. Gavin Price
April 7, 201214 yr What you are looking for is that for the troublesome add-on airports The last instance of each add-on pair in runways.txt points to the add-on scenery path, not another afcad, etc. Then check the coordinates in in the a4.csv file (open in word or wordpad) to see if they agree. Next make sure in your flight plan sent to RC that those coordinates also agree with the a4.csv file. If RC sees your aircraft more than a certain distance from the coordinates in a4.csv than it will move your aircraft. jd should get an idea from your log.
April 25, 201214 yr I bought My Traffix X 5.4. After installation I have the same problem. Immediately after start of RC the plane jumps to the middle of the runway. I did almost everything to try to solve this issue: - regen makerwys (checked all csv files) - rename BR2_KSFO.BGL in mytraffix scenery - reinstall mytraffic The only thing that helps is to uninstall My Traffix X. :-( Is there a way how to check from logs why RC moves the plane and why?
April 25, 201214 yr Yes, a log can help but first: Did you update FSUIPC and makerwys from: http://forum.simflight.com/topic/66139-updated-modules/ and http://forum.simflight.com/topic/66136-useful-additional-programs/ and then run the scenery rebuild again? Are your scenery priorities correct? RC uses the highest priority afd type scenery profile to get the airport coordinates. When your ready to go with the aircraft placed at your parking position load up RC and click the debug button. Then load your flight plan and make other adjustments and start RC. After the aircraft "jumps" you can alt-tab to RC and hit quit. Do not stop FS before quitting RC or you will lose the log and RC will hang. You can then exit FS. Go to the RC folder and you'll see rcv4.log. Rename it to something meaningful like RCv4-KSFO-jump.log so it will not be overwritten. Copy that to a temporary folder you create. Also carefully using wordpad or notepad only, not a spreadsheet, go into the rcv4\data folder, and open a4.csv after making a backup of it. Search for KSFO and then copy that line and paste it into a new .txt file saved into that temporary folder. Zip up those two files in the temporary folder, the log and the line from a4.csv, and attach it to an e-mail message to [email protected] subject RCV4 log for airplane jump. Include in the e-mail text body your flight planner used and the circumstances if it is universal or just specific airports. (For this test you should have My Traffic X reinstalled again and not running any other app. Be sure to rebuild the scenery database for RC after reactivating My Traffic X.) Send it to [email protected]. There are a few other things you should check first. Make sure your path to FSX is correct when doing the scenery rebuild. Also RC does not use the Win registry but FSUIPC does now for installation. Use this free utility from flight1 to set the path; http://www.flight1.com/view.asp?page=library and use the registry checker to do your path check for FSX in the registry. In Win 7 or VISTA right click on it and select to run as admin. Also be sure your shortcut to RC has a property set to run as admin (a program level, not user account level). Last as explained in another thread in your FSX folder open the large file runways.txt with word (not notepad) and wait for it to load. Keep searching for KSFO. There should be a final two entries as a pair, one for deletions and one with your runways, etc. That last pair has the highest priority according to your scenery library settings. The path at the head of each section should point to your My TrafficX afcad type file that you mentioned. A sample is in the previous reply in this thread. What is happening is that RC is seeing your aircraft parked more than a certain distance from the calculated airport runways center used for determining the a4.csv coordinates and also those airport coordinates in the flight plan. The log with the additional line from a4.csv should help solve the problem. (The plan with the coordinates will be in the log already.)
April 26, 201214 yr Author Uninstalling Mytraffic seemed to fix it for me. I use UT2 now. It works much better and I find it a much better program. Gavin Price
April 26, 201214 yr In UT2 it is best to set your ai spawn range at maximum so RC can see the ai patterns, which take priority, before assigning a runway particularly destination at approach time. If using an external weather application refresh ai after the weather app finishes updating the initial weather at your departure airport and then wait a minute before pressing START in RC so it gets the correct patterns and weather for you. Some of the Active Sky applications have a button to do this and use that even if you have AS automatically set to refresh ai on an update according to my experience. For FSX advancing the time one minute will do this.
