Flying on line with AVSIM

Featured Replies

Hi all,It is around 6 years since I have flown on line in FSX, and that was using Squawkbox. So, I have never actually connected FSX online, using it's Multiplayer functionality, which is how I am guessing the AVSIM online experience works? So I'm fine with TS, connecting to TS, setting up mics etc, but what details are required to go into the Mutiplayer fields within FSX ?Or if I've misunderstood, could someone set me right on how to get on line with AVSIM; not in terms of the TS side, but in terms of the physical FSX side? Many thanks,Stick

David.

Please, no-one take this as a strop..... :( ..... but I kinda find it odd that in once sense, AVSIM seems to be pushing the new teamspeak / flying online with AVSIM experience, and then, on it's new forum section, we have someone asking a question about the new capability, and getting nowhere......... :( Perhaps my original question was not clear; what I was pointing out was although the information provided so far regarding connecting to the new TS server was good and clear, there is no information on how we actually connect as a multiplayer entity on AVSIM? ........is it done within the multiplayer facility in FSX? ........ does it use a client like Squawkbox or IvAP? .........In short, how do I fly on line with AVSIM ? Let's see how long it takes to get a reply! :(

Well Stick,It's kind of easy. Tell me when you will be in the AVSIM Teamspeak Hanger Chat Room (instructions above) and I will walk you through it one on one, step by step. How's that for personal service? :(

That's both helpful and kind of you Stephen, but the only issue is that I am on the other side of the pond from you in another timezone (and universe lol!) so I'm concerned that my good time may be your 4am! :lol:Could you, I wonder, tease me with a couple of (bullet) pointers, and then we rendezvous for that training session at the weekend? Thanks again :(

Well, I got that bit from the news article :( ....but again, that only related to the Teamspeak element; don't you guys fly on line too? ..... or are you just flying individually, offline, but chatting on Teamspeak? That's what I was really wanting to know; how do you fly together online? ... I understand the Teamspeak bit, but not how you guys actually fly together online within FSX. :(

Hi Stick,Yes we do. We meet on teamspeak, discuss what and where we want to fly, log on to the server and fly together in multiplayer. It is far more fun than flying alone. It is easy, come on in during a your weekday UK evening, say 7 ot 8 o'clock, and there are usually a bunch of us on there. We guarantee you will have a blast, or double your bordom back! :dirol:Kind regards,

Ah great, that answers my confusion Stephen, so you do fly on FSX Multiplayer, after first meeting on TS and deciding where to go and what to fly..... nice approach, I like the sound of that :smile:Well I am currently working away for another week or so, (which is the only reason I haven't taken you up on your kind offer to join the server and brief me!), but will definitely get in on the action, when I get back home and can have some fun other than working 14 hours per day on an telecoms install (with sneaky breaks onto AVSIM!).Cheers,Stick

Hi Stick,

Just cruising thru the forums, hope you were able to get into

FSX multiplayer.

We use the TS method of comms in our flying club, where we fly

every Friday at 0930Z. Its a regular thing !

So our approach is to post in our forum calendar the details of the upcoming session.

And at the assigned time, "bingo" TS starts rocking !!!

Unfortunately as an Aussie based group, its not good timing for UK simmers.

Multiplayer in FSX is addictive and in most cases the connection give SMOOTH motion

between aircraft, so formation flying looks awesome.

Our TS channel gets quite crowded with up to 15 in the air some nights.

I know your post is a few weeks old now, but if you need more help,

PM me and i am happy to send you our basic info on joining a session.

Info on our club flying can also be found here

http://aussiex.org/f...zx-flying-club/

However if your already up to speed, ignore this post and continue with the

addiction.

And joining the guys here on Avsim, sounds like a blast as well

Cheers

TonyM

Hi Stick,

Flying on line with others is great fun. DTP facilitates that fun, there are many fs communities already in DTP, AVSIM being one of the newer arrivals. Once a community member you are free to check out the Whats On calendar & join others at the appropriate time. You are NOT confined to a single community, in fact you are positively encouraged to join in on all the activity. I'm posting two links, the first to the calendar & the second is how to connect to DTP.

I'm UK based & most, but not all, flights eg NZ, Aus, IFR Challenge Flights, Discover USA, etc etc start at around 2000z. I also fly with TonyM downunder at 0930z on Fridays, always good for a laugh!

Hope to see you on DTP soon.
