Wing blurriness with all aircraft payware and default

Featured Replies

I have wing blurriness with shadows. I have read alot about this issue and I have yet to find a solution. I know my computer has the power to handle the graphics. I went into my CCC and changed my AAF to max, AA to max and set it to edge detect. Now the wing edges are much more blurry and the wing has random areas where black boxes appear. Does anyone have a solution to this besides turning off the "airplane shadows itself" option? I think the shadow adds great realism to the FSX.

Hm... interesting. Could you post a screenshot?

I am at work all weekend but first thing next week I will take a couple screenshots and upload them on here.

I got those pictures you sent me--not quite sure what it is, but if you upload them here, somebody else might know. (upload them to imageshack and then get the URL)My guess would be your anisotropic filtering settings. Could you post the applicable FSX settings?

I have no URL for the pics so I just did them as attachments. Some more uploads of my set up and a pic of the issue of the edge like blurriness

The AC self-shadowing is very buggy, and doesn't look very good under close scrutiny (like in your screenshots where you are right up close to the wing). Unfortunately there is no fix that I'm aware of, it's one of the quirks of FSX that never got addressed (maybe P3D has better self shadowing? I don't know, do not have P3D)

Yeah, now that I look at your pictures closer, I get the same jagged shadows, especially with EZDok.

Could the videos that I am seeing on youtube just be getting the jagged shadows edited out?

Could you link one of the videos you're talking about? Most videos on Youtube are not of high enough resolution that you can see the shadow jaggedness very well, and even the 1080p videos have enough compression artifacting to hide some detail.

It's not the best example I could find, but it does have some of the shadows on the wings and it looks crisp.

I see what you mean, so I took a look at my aircraft in FSX and found jagged shadows upon close inspection, but it was not as visible in my FSX Videos, especially the movies where I stack on multiple effects.
