I said it's similar to FSX, it's not identical to FSX. Things like missions have been removed because of course they are of no use to a commercial flight sim. Most of your FSX add ons will work with it, but be prepared (pun not intended) to fiddle around trying to get them up and running initially. Stability wise it crashes less, and doesn't seem to produce graphical artifacts and spikes which were a killer in FSX, but this is just my experience. It doesn't seem to give much of a performance (FPS) increase over FSX, if any. It doesn't seem to give much of a performance (FPS) increase over FSX, if any. Missions have not been removed, only that now they are considered as part of a saved flight. If you go to the files menu and click on saved flight, you will see that the tutorials missions from FSX are still there. Missions are an integral part of a training simulation since it enables the operator to load a specific flight condition without having to setup the machine every time. As per LM developer team, most of the work is for "under the hood" stuff like graphics, multi thread support, multi user support and a revamping of simconnect. From what I heard, V2 will have a serious rewrite of the core code to make better use of GPUs. In my opinion, this is the best selling point: It is a commercial software that has a dedicated team for debugging and developing. If you have a bug and report it, there are really good chances that they will look into it and get rid of it. Of course, for that to happen they need more than "x does not work!". In the P3D forums they have the guidelines for reporting a bug.
