March 27, 201214 yr Hi,Could anyone suggests vendors/companies in US (especially in Northern Virginia/DC Metro area) that provides overclocking services for the existing (newly assembled) hardware?. I spoke with Microcenter support and they said that prefer not to deal with OC, since they don't want to be potentially responsible for any damage done to hardware. May I presume that these days OC is 100% task of the end-user or not?ThanksDmitriy 9950X3D, X870E ROG CROSSHAIR HERO, Corsair Dominator Titanium 64GB DDR5-6000 PC5-48000, ASUS RTX 5070Ti 16GB, 9100 PRO 4TB Samsung ,990 PRO 4TB Samsung, AX1600i 1600 Watt 80 Plus Titanium ATX, ASUS 360 ARGB EXTREME 360mm Liquid CPU Cooling Kit.

What kind of hardware do your have? Newer CPUs are easy to OC, especially Intel SB's and there are tons of well written easy to follow guides available. Unless you go over allowable volts or extreme temps your machine will just BSOD when unstable settings are used. Most bios' in fact have pre-set OC defaults if you wanted a quick and easy OC.
March 29, 201214 yr Author Thanks for your detailed response,Actually, I'm still in a process of collectiong the informations. The main dilemma for me right now is to whether go with 3770k that will be released next month or 3930k on LGA2011 that has 10MB L3 Cache. The latter is more expensive, but I don't know whether LGA2011 and this CPU will provide more power to FSX. 9950X3D, X870E ROG CROSSHAIR HERO, Corsair Dominator Titanium 64GB DDR5-6000 PC5-48000, ASUS RTX 5070Ti 16GB, 9100 PRO 4TB Samsung ,990 PRO 4TB Samsung, AX1600i 1600 Watt 80 Plus Titanium ATX, ASUS 360 ARGB EXTREME 360mm Liquid CPU Cooling Kit.
March 30, 201214 yr For what I've seen on the forums LGA2011 is not a good choice for FSX, as those chips don't have much OC headroom. The 3770, however, is reported to be achieving ridiculous overclocks in tests (I've seen that 5GHz+ has been achieved on 1.2V). I will be picking up a 3770/mobo/gtx680 ASAP to be able to take advantage of tri-gate.I also live in the DC/NOVA area, and haven't come across any over locking services. It's not too hard to learn to do on your own, just find a tutorial, follow it, and ask any questions here or on overclock.net. You're very unlikely to damage theprocessor as long as you even attempt to follow the directions. Microcenter even offers a warranty that will replace your processor regardless of how you might you have abused it. Paying someone to OC your processor isnt necessary if you have an afternoon or two to learn, a bit of patience, and a community like this to help.
