March 28, 201214 yr Hello there,I know there has been a lot of topics about how to startup the 737 NGX, but I'm really struggling. I never had this problem before, the panel appeared correctly and not cold and dark, usually most of the stuff was on, but when all of the panels, electrics, gauges were dark, and the engines were shut, I've decided to follow this tutorial http://www.fsstation...g-737ng-3.html. It all worked, but nothing worked entirely, such as the PFD was missing information, and the map was empty with only numbers and text on the sides, however now everytime I restart FSX or make a new flight, it returns me to the same position where I was, with all the displays on, but all of the controls are off, the APUs off, the engine is cutoff, it's all off apart from the battery, and when I shut it down, the displays stay there, and it's seriously driving me nuts. Do you have any solution how I could shut it down properly and finally start it up in a correct way to avoid all of the fuss? In general, the aircraft seems unresponsive, while it claims the parking is on, frequent releasing and enabling doesn't do anything, and FSX claims that the parking brake is on. Same with the FMC, the switch for it triggers nothing. I tried the FMC startup profiles, but when I press EXEC it seems to do nothing. Excuse my lack of knowledge for PMDG, I hope you can help me on this matter.Thank you and kind regards. Kamil Bonczyk
March 28, 201214 yr Author Sorry for double posting, but I've tried reinstalling actually the product, and that fixed the issue. However, I am still struggling to start it up, and would maybe like some tips or a pointer on where the information about it could be on the manual. I've set the start up on the set up as NGX SHORT, after reading that it is suitable to use for short hops or quick turnarounds. I don't want to start from Cold & dark, as it is generally too long to setup, but when I use the short panel state, everything lights up, and I get an annoying beeping noise in the cockpit. The battery won't turn on at all, actually the switch works, but the green DC display on the upper avionics does not appear. Then I'm turning on the APU, the engine switches, and none of them actually do anything. I hope someone can point me in the right direction... Kamil Bonczyk
March 30, 201214 yr Hi have you read the introduction manual all is explained in the intro manual. Have you followed tutorial 1 and 2 tells you on how to start from cold and dark state. Also there some youtube videos out as well I7-8700k,Corsair h1101 cooler ,Asus Strix Gaming Intel Z370 S11 motherboard, Corsair 32gb ramDD4,, gtx 1080ti Card, RM850 power supply Peter kelberg

Now, I've started from CnD so many times that it literally only takes a few minutes to get up and running. It is very rewarding to be able to start from CnD without any help from videos or tutorials.Seriously though, Ryan aka Tabs put a lot of time and effort into making the NGX tutorial flights, instead of blindly asking for help for a very complex start-up procedure, check out the manuals and tutorials.Good luck and I hope you get proficient in CnD start-ups because to me, there is no other way..! Everything is ready for you to start initialising the FMC and then start the engines. The DC display will respond if you rotate the selector switch to the position for the item you wish to read.I far prefer the SHORT TURN panel state. It's true that you can switch everything on quickly from cold and dark with practice, but in reality only the first flight of the day would begin like this. Most pilots will enter the cockpit with electrical power already established by ground crew, or left on from the previous flight. There is some satisfaction to be had in starting from power off and bringing the aircraft to life, but I don't want to start every NGX flight that way.

Especially in the NGX!I do appreciate your comments, but I've watched plenty of YouTube tutorials, and read the manual, and somehow still can't do it. The battery doesn't display when I turn it on, and the engines go into an ENG FAIL. I'd appreciate if some people we're less ignorant towards newbies, NGX is a hard plane to set up for some, especially myself, an unexperienced person who would like to move on from a default to a more sim friendly, far better, realistic aircraft. With the SHORT TURN panel state the battery is already on and APU is already running. The selector switch is something I haven't really touched yet, so maybe it's the case. Kamil Bonczyk
March 31, 201214 yr Author ELEC on Master Control, Low Oil Pressure, and a noise in the cockpit is infact all I'm getting after a short state startup, it's driving me insane. Additionally, when Flight Switches are set to FLT and the engines to IDLE after CUTOFF, I get ENG FAIL on both displays. I'm doing exactly what's on the YouTube tutorials, and it won't work. April 1, 201214 yr ELEC on Master Control, Low Oil Pressure, and a noise in the cockpit is infact all I'm getting after a short state startup, it's driving me insane. Additionally, when Flight Switches are set to FLT and the engines to IDLE after CUTOFF, I get ENG FAIL on both displays. I'm doing exactly what's on the YouTube tutorials, and it won't work.Moving the engine start switches to FLT will not start the engines on ground. FLT only puts the ignition on and it's for use in flight to restart engines. Forget about youtube tutorials for now, you need to carefully follow NGX Tutorial 1 provided with the documentation. The other NGX manuals, especially the NGX Introduction and Operating Manual 2, will help you understand how the various systems work. There's no need to read the whole thing, use them for reference. The ability to text search in them is really helpful.Nothing I can write in the forum will replace the need to carefully follow Ryan's NGX Tutorial 1. However I can hopefully help you get the engines started, which should give you the confidence to carry on with learning the NGX.Firstly the ELEC caution on the master caution panel is a normal indication with engines off, it shows there are two amber cautions on the overhead (they have the legend DRIVE). It means the generators aren't turning fast enough. Secondly if the start levers are at IDLE and the engines aren't running this indicates an engine failure, hence the ENG FAIL warnings you see when you move the levers from CUTOFF to IDLE without starting the engines. The engines need air pressure to start them (provided by the APU). In the SHORT TURN panel state the APU is already supplying air, but some of it is being used by the air conditioning packs. So before starting the engines you need to switch both packs off (overhead panel, right hand side, switches marked L PACK, R PACK, move them up to the OFF position (right mouse click)).To start engine 2:1. Switch on the four fuel pump switches (overhead panel, lower left). The four amber LOW PRESSURE lights will go off.2. On the main panel, switch on the MFD engine display (click on the small button marked ENG, located just above centre display)3. Move engine 2 start switch to GRD (this is the ground start position). The switch will stay in this position.4. On the lower display, monitor N2 increasing until it stabilises, at least 25% N2.5. Move engine 2 start lever from CUTOFF to IDLE.6. After a short delay you will see FF increase and then EGT rise indicating light off.7. The engine runs up to idle and the starter will automatically cutout (engine start switch moves back to OFF)8. Repeats steps 3 to 7 for Engine 19. Note that the ELEC caution is now gone as the generators are turning, driven by the engines.10. You can now put the generators on line by moving the generator switches down to the ON position momentarily. The blue GEN OFF BUS lights will extinguish and the corresponding blue light for the APU generator will come on (APU GEN OFF BUS).
