Texture Max Load

Featured Replies

i recently read a post from one of the PMDG support members (i dont remember who at the moment) that stated that changing your Texture Max Load = 4096 was more recently confirmed to not be helpful for the NGX. The only problem is, I don't remember what it was set to before i edited the .cfg after the initial release back in August. If anyone could help me out i would appreciate it.Mitch Bowman

I do believe the 2 most common settings for texture max load in the cfg file is 1024 or 2048. Try one of those two.

Default is 1024.

What exactly does changing it do?

4096 is required for hi-res textures like REX/AS2012 4096 clouds and the NGX's VC. It's that simple. Using a lower setting than 1024 will have a noticeable impact on texture quality. Keep it on 4096 to support the NGX's hi-res VC.

Inevitably, someone will swear up and down there's no difference in quality between 4096 and 1024. There, I said it for you. I don't buy it, though.

Be aware that making changes using the in game FSX display settings and then saving them tends to reset the texture max load to 1024. At least it's happened to me several times. So you would need to go back in and change it in the file.
