April 3, 201214 yr Commercial Member What is your current altitude, GW, etc..? 315000 - 20500 = 294500 lbs of fuel to burn in 8 hrs 30 mins. That is an hourly fuel burn of 34647 lbs/hr, or 8661 lbs/eng/hr, which sounds about right. Best regards, Robin.

Don't remember off the top of my head, i think it was around 825,000Ibs when i took off, cruise alt 35,000ft, step climbed to 39,000. Two of my waypoints were more than 1500nm each, which is now leading me to believe i went way off track hence the excessive fuel burn. I'm now on a different flight, YSSY to WMKK which is a similar flight time, and my FMC is telling me 84,000IBs of fuel remaining on arrival at WMKK, after taking off with approx 270,000Ibs or so.

I prefer to enter my flight plan manually into the FMC, and routefinder in my opinion is really not good at all.
April 4, 201214 yr Commercial Member EDIT - Sent you a link to Route finder by mistake! I've been using it for quite a while, works fine for me. Regards Rob Prest

April 4, 201214 yr Commercial Member How do you mean it leads you off course? It uses real world waypoints and Nat-tracks. You should run through the flightplan in MAP mode on the Nav display and check the route against real world charts. I tend to just verify the route waypoints in MAP mode and check calculated route distance matches the FMC route distance. As long as you have entered the route correctly in the FMC you shouldn't have any issues. Are you new to the PMDG 744? Rob Prest

I am somewhat new to the PMDG 744, yes, I only moved into the realm of 'realistic' flight simming a couple of weeks ago when i bought that addon. I enter all my waypoints manually into the FMC. That checking on the Map mode display sounds pretty handy, thanks for that. Heres The Fuel--->http://fuel.aerotexas.com and i Use SimRoutes For My Flights Thanks :)
April 5, 201214 yr Commercial Member The waypoints being 1500 nm apart should actually HELP fuel consumption as it should fly a great circle track between both waypoints - the optimum! I can only suggest that you are trying to fly too high too early, and hurting fuel economy. A fully loaded 747 wants to start cruise at about FL300, not FL350. Step climb in increments of 2000 ft and you should have an optimum profile. I can fly the Level D 767-300ER about 7000 nm with about a 30% passenger load and no cargo (ZFW about 210 klbs) by entering CI of ZERO (results in cruise at approx. Mach 0.775) and starting out at FL320 (based on the FMC optimum cruise altitude). Best regards, Robin.
