With GSX installed and running is there any reason to keep the default airport vehicle slider at medium or higher?

I don't think so. But GSX only provides vehicles for your aircraft, I have my airport vehicles on low just to add some life to the airport.

Good question....very good. I might just drop that to full left myself. I don't need pickup trucks running around...
