April 5, 201214 yr Ohh wow, incredible.. She managed to land the aircraft.. I hope I'm that with it when i am 80 years old. Sorry to hear her husband didn't make it though..
April 5, 201214 yr Of course it is easy to be critical sat here, but I have to say that it sounds to me like they waste a bit of time faffing about and risking her fuel levels dropping to the point where she could (and in fact did) lose an engine right where it would be dangerous for her making a turn onto a final approach. And to be fair to her, she points that out several times. It should have been apparent that she might have to go around on her first approach, and they should really have expedited matters somewhat because of that, since she was clearly concerned about not only fuel levels, but also trying to get medical attention for her husband quickly. She does a bloody fantastic job under the circumstances, landing an aeroplane on one engine with the other one probably about to cut too. She is one gutsy lady, not least because it would have been entirely understandable if she had got nervous on the controls when the engine cut out. The pilot who assisted her does a good job, especially with his patter, but he should probably have got her coming in a bit sooner to prevent that loss of an engine, fortunately it all worked out well though, so he does deserve a good deal of credit for what he did. It is sad that her husband di not make it, I'm sure he would have been proud of her efforts. Al Alan Bradbury Check out my youtube flight sim videos: Here
