April 6, 201214 yr This is a very good board or at least looks to be but I just cant see why ASRock continue to put IDE connectors on their boards. Maybe the lower end ones but the higher end ones that go into gaming computers? Who uses floppy or old IDE drives these days? http://www.pccasegear.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=19871 Both optimists and pessimists contribute to our society. April 6, 201214 yr Author It is still a fairly expensive board. Not even our 7 year old pc uses IDE, moved on to SATA. Both optimists and pessimists contribute to our society. The optimist invents the airplane and the pessimist the parachute. ~Gil Stern
April 6, 201214 yr Author Just that one that they all have to cater for :). But seriously, why not release like a PCIe IDE card or something, Both optimists and pessimists contribute to our society. The optimist invents the airplane and the pessimist the parachute. ~Gil Stern
April 6, 201214 yr I don't see how it being there is something to complain about. It's there, but you're not forced to use it! ___________________________________________________________________________________ Zachary Waddell -- Caravan Driver -- Facebook: http://www.facebook.com/zwaddell Avsim ToS Avsim Screenshot Rules
April 6, 201214 yr I don't see how it being there is something to complain about. It's there, but you're not forced to use it! I think that aesthetically speaking, it doesn't look as good to have a large set of pins in the middle of everything.
April 6, 201214 yr I still use an IDE for my Linux :). Ryzen 5 1600x - 16GB DDR4 - RTX 3050 8GB - MSI Gaming Plus
April 6, 201214 yr I think that aesthetically speaking, it doesn't look as good to have a large set of pins in the middle of everything. The IDE header is just beside the RAM DIMMs, and it's that way on most (all?) ATX designs. It's small and definitely not conspicuous. But to each his own! ___________________________________________________________________________________ Zachary Waddell -- Caravan Driver -- Facebook: http://www.facebook.com/zwaddell Avsim ToS Avsim Screenshot Rules
April 6, 201214 yr Author Well I am just questioning it. I just dont see why a gaming computer would have it. And yes, aesthetically its yuck! Both optimists and pessimists contribute to our society. The optimist invents the airplane and the pessimist the parachute. ~Gil Stern
