April 6, 201214 yr Hey Everyone, I'm seemingly not able to find the documentation in regards to this question... But do you need to install GEX every time you fly? Say no... :P Do you also need to install the texture set up you have in REX every time you fly (Again, say no... :P) or once you have a set up you like, does it just have the textures there in game already? Anyway, thanks a lot for any help ahead of time. :P Randy Randy
April 6, 201214 yr You install your choice of cloud, sky, tarmac and water textures from what REX offers, it backs up the default textures, and thereafter, unless you choose to change them, your choice of REX textures effectively become default ones. If you run REX after having made this choice, it is then primarily because you want its weather engine or flight planner. Al Alan Bradbury Check out my youtube flight sim videos: Here
April 6, 201214 yr Hi randy the answer to both questions is No. once installed that's it.you don't have to do it again for either program. GEX is ground texture replacement.buy your prefered area,i use GEXnorth america, europe and africa/middle east.once installed you run the interface, backup originals install the new textures and thats it.when you launch FSX you will see the new textures. REX is mainly a Cloud and water texture replacement program.there are also several other textures for runways, runway lights, taxiways, strobes and landing lights . REX also has it's own weather engine for people who like to use realistic weather when flying.when using the weather engine REX will pick the most appropriate textures for the weather conditions and install them into FSX for you. hope this answers some of the questions for you. steve-0 REX SKYFORCE 3D steve howlett
April 6, 201214 yr Author Hey guys! Thanks for the replies!! So then to get the most from REX I should at least use the weather generation for each FS foray then? Sounds about right. ;) Randy

April 7, 201214 yr Now i know everyone raves about REX, but doesnt Activesky 2012 now do the same thing? I have REX, but after i bought AS 2012 i decided it wasnt needed anymore because AS simply has more choices of textures Tramps like us, baby we were born to run......
April 7, 201214 yr Check out Sim-Savvy. It is photo scenery for all the U.S. except Alaska. www.sim-savvy.com
April 7, 201214 yr Hi randy As Tim suggests it is better to read the manual.it is such a massive program that it is hard to cover everything it does accurately. should also say that REX is just about to be upgraded (free to current owners)with a new weather engine and new textures.last upgrade was 9gb. steve-0 REX SKYFORCE 3D steve howlett
April 7, 201214 yr Not much reason to complain about REX when its textures and weather generation made one of my Air Hauler flights today look like this: Al Alan Bradbury Check out my youtube flight sim videos: Here
