April 7, 201214 yr Quick question--I've really been wanting to fly a commuter (preferably turboprop) aircraft lately, and while I know of the good payware turboprops, I was wondering if there are any really good freeware ones. I've been looking at a lot of freeware lately and I've found some planes that have been very close to payware quality, but I've seen no turboprops at a really high level of detail. I know it's a long shot, but are there any excellent freeware turboprops/commuter aircraft that I just haven't stumbled across? Thanks, boeing247 -Bram Osterhout
April 8, 201214 yr Hi If your looking for payware quality stuff premier aircraft won't work. This is an interesting question i haven't seen many. Modern ones are hard to come by, theres more older ones . Rick Pipers Hs-748 is a good one, the Hs-748 is a little but of an older plane tho. There's others but I can't think of any at the moment. Hope this gives you a start Lee
April 8, 201214 yr You can run across some good models, but as far as panels for FSX, I have had no luck finding any freeware ones that I would use.

Hope this gives you a start Lee I checked out that Hs-748, and it seemed to look pretty good (though not the best). However, it seems to be for FS9, is there an FSX version And does anybody know if Tim Conrad has made any commuter aircraft? He's got a lot of aircraft that are just about at freeware quality (if you haven't seen is An-32, it's pretty amazing). -Bram Osterhout
April 8, 201214 yr Yeah it's not the best but it's pretty good ( the hs 748) just google Rick piper hs 748 fsx and you'll get something. Tim Conrad's AN-32 is very good I agree. Not sure if he made any other commuter aircraft, I'm interested to know too. Also with some more searching I found that there are a couple of good panels for the ISDT ATR-42/72 Lee
April 8, 201214 yr Author All right, thanks for all the freeware tips! Now, I already know of some payware commuter/short haul aircraft like the PMDG Jestream, Majestic Software Dash-8, Flight1 ATR, and the various Feelthere Embraers. Are there any good ones I've missed? Also, with the Jetstream, I read that when you save a flight, the FMS settings don't save. Doesn't that mean that you pretty much can't continue a saved flight with it? -Bram Osterhout
April 8, 201214 yr youve basically got all the commuter ones. Carenado is releasing the C90 in a couple of days...unless you want more airliner stuff. But if you want commuter/short haul stuff then the 4 you mentioned are it really. Theyre all good the PMDG JS41 looks the best and has in depth systems. it can be tricky to learn but its fun. The Majestic Pro version is very in depth ...pmdg standard systems. the visuals are lacking though because its old. Majestic has a new Q400 coming out soon. And the F1 ATR has some problems in fsx but I believe those have been patched pretty good by F1. The Feelthere ERJ's are probably the best regional jets out there, theres really no other ones. As for your Jetstream question..i dont know ive never tried sorry. lee
