April 12, 200422 yr Hello Gang!I have been very busy lately, installing updated airfiles for all my PAI and Ultimate Traffic aircraft. The problem is that PAI airfiles make the aircraft show up in th eaircraft selection menu, slowing down the simulator access to some of the screens considerably. My understanding is that this is something that can be tweaked in the aircraft airfiles, but I have no clue how to go in and so this; any ideas? Thanks in advance!Sincerely,Dennis D. April 12, 200422 yr Do a search here for AirEd. You can make the AI unflyable so they dont show in the menuBill
April 12, 200422 yr Author I doubt changing section 105 in the *.air file will make the flight simulator load any faster. It still has to catalog the aircraft available for flight or AI. As indicated AirEd152 can be used - http://perso.wanadoo.fr/hsors/FS_Soft/index.html .W. Sieffert Bill Sieffert
August 21, 200421 yr Hi. I searched here and all I found was AirEd for FS98. Will it work with FS2004? Thanks, regards, Bob.
August 22, 200421 yr I notice a slight difference, nothing to brag about. (Might have something do with I have upwards of 500+ airlines and some models have upwards of 60 different texture folders-that be a lot of aircraft, but I think UT comes with more airlines, mine are all manual :) ) Ended up turning most of them back to be able to see them, I think it is a lot easier to play with AFCAD2 using AI aircraft vice "flyable" ones. :-outta http://hometown.aol.com/p3superb/images/3e72a43942b48d2b.jpg There is a fine line between "hobby" and "mental illness".- unknown "My daddy gives me up, to fight for you"- a US Military Members Child
August 23, 200421 yr My version of AirEd is 1.42, which looks like it's mostly documented for FS98, with a few upgrade notes for FS2K.You probably won't gain much on initial load, as was pointed out, but whenever you want to switch planes it should be a lot faster. That said, I don't hide any of my AI planes. When I put one in, I usually sit it on the runway to make sure ATC talks to it correctly, and it really looks the way I expect. I get too many mismatches of texture and model files, and I often forget something in aircraft.cfg, so I like to see each plane at least once before I put it into the Traffic files.
