April 11, 201214 yr hi gents, i want to improve my fsx performance and was thinking of the following: what if i were to sell my current amd radeon hd 6950 and with the money made buy something like a 560ti on sale or one step lower card...would this increase my performance and possibly the occasional artifacts or stutters i get with the atiÉ(sorry my keyboard wont do the question mark)....if this would improve i would go ahead with it, and then later on this year sell the 560 and put in some extra cash for a 600series gtx....i just cant put the extra cash right now.... thank you in advance gents!!! i7 4790K 4.8GHz, 16GB DDR3 1866MHz, EVGA RTX 2080 XC. 1TB M.2 SSD, 4TB HDD, 4K display. April 11, 201214 yr I was in the same boat as you are. Wanted an upgrade, but couldn't justify the jump to a 580 or 680 card just yet. I went for this one http://www.newegg.ca...N82E16814130758 I feel it's going to give better performance in higher AA settings as well as higher cloud density. I figure I'll get something for my old card so it'll help a bit. I'll probably do the same in a year. I'm comimg from a GTX 460 768MB.
April 11, 201214 yr Author Cool. Thanks. Did u get to try the 560 yet? If so, how is it?? Alejandro C. i7 4790K 4.8GHz, 16GB DDR3 1866MHz, EVGA RTX 2080 XC. 1TB M.2 SSD, 4TB HDD, 4K display. P3D v4.4, FSLabs 320, ORBX Global, Vector, Fly Tampa Airports, FSDT Airports, ActiveSky, REX Sky Force
April 11, 201214 yr I thought the 6950 and up broke the Nvidia = better then ATI for FSX rule. I have a 6950 and it works great for me.
April 11, 201214 yr Hi Alejandro. >>what if i were to sell my current amd radeon hd 6950 and with the money made buy something like a 560ti on sale or one step lower card...would this increase my performance and possibly the occasional artifacts or stutters i get with the ati..<< I have both brands, ATI 6950/70 and GTX 570. ATI has much cleaner display and just as good performance / FPS in FSX, Fly!Legacy, Fly!II, XP9 and XP10. Fix your video problem, if you have artifacts, and do not spend your money and effort on the 560. You will actually loose performance, with the 560. GPU 6950, never exceeded 80% load in my system, very similar to yours. Just fix your present system and enjoy. You should be able to run FSX really well with your set up. Look for changes in your .cfg and play with your sliders. TV
April 11, 201214 yr Artifacts aren't a problem with the ATI 6950, at least not for me or the above poster. Something else is wrong with your .cfg. That card has 2 GB's of memory.
