As I work on Dash 8 equipment, and from what I recall, some operators will climb with the props pulled way back on it to something like 1050 rpm, will they not Bernt? Seems to me Jazz employs this practice but I'm not 100% certain. That's well back (far more coarse) from the full fine position if I'm not mistaken (I forget what redline speed is in the 8 now unfortunately). Cruise I think is done as low as 990, but I believe some just leave the props at 1050 (or thereabouts) and simply adjust the torque via the thrust levers. The point being that you can indeed climb normally at fairly coarse prop settings, and is usually done to help reduce cabin noise for passengers (personally I'd just tell them to close the window, but that seems to fall on deaf ears Just%20Kidding.gif ). Does that sound about right Bernt?
