Lost liveries after SP1c

Featured Replies

I installed SP1c yesterday and when I restarted it prompted me to save my liveries and I said yes. When I read the install it did ask if I wanted to save the liveries to back them up but I figured I would just download new ones. Now when I try to install them the installer says that I already have them and will not install. They are not there. Please help.

Thanks,

Ron

Generally, if there's a sticky (where you probably got the installers), you should read it:

(Option: If you are interested in saving the accumulated flight time on your various liveries, back up the files contained in your FSX\PMDG 737 NGX\Aircraft directory, then run the livery manager and uninstall your liveries...After you get your liveries re-installed, just copy all of these ini files back- and you'll be right where you left off. We are working on a long-term solution for this headache- but it didn't make this update...)

Run both installers (order shouldn't matter)...

Run the livery manager, and reinstall your liveries.

(NOTE: When reinstalling your liveries, if the livery manager warns you about a livery directory that already exists, ALLOW THE LIVERY MANAGER TO DELETE THE FOLDER. While you are in the livery manager, try sorting your liveries alphabetically... pretty cool, huh?)

Now, it doesn't explicitly state you'll lose them, but it infers it had you not read the notes for SP1b and SP1a.

In the future, you should read the notes. About 90% of issues can be resolved simply by reading the notes attached with the product or product update.

I learned the hard way to not trust that liveries will be left unharmed in a patch. The first thing I did this time 'round was backup the aircraft files so I don't loose those hours flown again, and blow out all the liveries prior to installing the patch.

Where did it say that liveries would be unharmed? The release notes actually stated they'd be affected.

Liveries are always deleted with any NGX patch because it replaces the aircraft.cfg files... You can either back up the relevant fltsim.xx sections on the cfg file to paste back in after the patch or you can just uninstall the liveries prior to the patch and then reinstall them after.

I understood that the liveries would be affected but I figured I could reinstall after the patch. They are no where to be found and yet the installer says that I have them and will not let me install. I only found one installer. Do I start the same one over again? Should I uninstall all liveries I have installed and srart over?

Thanks,

Ron

I posted earlier how this is done:

Run both installers (order shouldn't matter)...

Run the livery manager, and reinstall your liveries.

To add a little detail to that, after you upgrade to SP1c, you will need to run the livery manager from your start menu. When you do so, it will prompt you that there are unassociated folders in your aircraft's folders (this is because when SP1c updated the aircraft.cfg files, it erased the text that tells the computer to pay any attention to the aircraft textures for the liveries), and asks if you want to delete them. You should allow it to delete them. From there, you take all of the downloaded .ptp files and install them via the manager. Done.

If this is not working, make sure you are running the livery manager as an administrator.
