I guess I could be called a Collector

Featured Replies

I just for S&G checked the size of my FS9 Folder. Let me say, it would take 10 DVDs to back it up! 44.6 GB of data...Let's here some other sizes.

If y'all are a collector, I hate to think what they'd call me ;) Maybe a Horder :)FS on line.....................20.5gbHangered planes......81.2gb These are off line (FSAOM)Backlog of addons...17.5gbTotal............................129.2gb-------------------Racartronit means something, but I just can't remember what

Racartron,:(My FS folder is something like 20 gigs, uncompressed. Thank god for file compression :)

Mine is smallSize: 9.93GBSize on Disk: 10.0GBContains: 70,475 files 2,244 folders

Guys, can someone explain me the deal around "the size"? Are we all like soooooooo much macho?? Size is all that matters?I mean, I keep my FS folder as small as possible. I have various airport addons, mesh, and least aircraft possible, to speed up loading and fragmentation. Now, from the other point of view, are you really flying those 500 aircraft you have in your hangar. I bet some were stored there for a year and not been pulled out.If it makes you happy, ok :) I have my small fleet of few GAs and few Heavies, and it takes me few seconds to load one and take it up for a spin. :)

Ah yes...size: 6.6 GB :)

"I keep my FS folder as small as possible. I have various airport addons, mesh, and least aircraft possible, to speed up loading and fragmentation."I don't want technology to limit my FS experience. The size of the FS9 folder should not matter much to the loading speed. You only cause fragmentation when you copy/move/delete large amounts of files - once they are there they don't cause any harm other than using up lots of space. That said, my FS9 folders are not that big compared to some of you:In total, its 24.56GB, 447,262 files. I have maybe a dozen GA addon planes (freeware and payware), 30m mesh for the entire USA, SRTM mesh for some of Europe and quite a few photographic sceneries.

Surely Racarton, you can do better than this! You're not really trying are you? I hope you've got these backed up on hard disk& off-site in your car!!!!!Peter Sydney Australia

This my friends is the motherload.....Get ready....(Drum roll please):A resounding....5.57GB. Yep.....my folder is 5.57GB. Whatever I don't use, I uninstall. I only have aircraft that I use. And the aircraft that I have installed, but aren't flying at the moment....I put that aircraft folder into another folder so that it doesn't show up in FS. When I need it, I just move it back into the main aircraft folder.I have Justin's mesh but its not installed at the moment. I have simflyers sceneries...not installed. Realscene...not installed. My philosophy is performance outweighs eye candy.THerefore, I have Chris' clouds installed. That's about it. A nice 5.57GB uncompressed (why on earth should I compress such a small size).Ooops!!! Sorry.....I thought this was the competition for the smallest FS folder....:-) Edit: included a screenshot just in case some doesn't believe....:-)

I have FS9 and all related items on a disk by itself: 7.2 gig in all. That's not counting the DL items which are on another disk, 2.6 gig. I have added a range of items; some "big iron", some dinky little planes and a smorgasbord of things inbetween. Currently, I'm leaning toward the midrange of the GA planes; I drive a Mooney Bravo, mostly. But I'd certainly not say that this is where I'll end up. I'm receiving a Yoke and Pedals on Tuesday and I'm hoping they'll help me to "straighten up and fly right" because I'm not so good yet. It's really something to see a Lear jet duckwalk into the air. :D

3.6GB hereI only keep what I use, no since in having a bunch of useless crap that I'm not going to use taking up space. All I have are a few payware planes, and a few freeware scenery enhancements. That size is including some freeware crap that I've tried and havent gotten around to removing yet.
