My Only Gripe with FLIGHT sofar....

MP Stuttering :-(

I almost never go online these days..., just a couple of times in FLIGHT, a few in FSX/fs9, more on CONDOR.

CONDOR, together with what I can still recall from IL2 (played it looooooooooong ago...) and CFS2, is probably the most stuttering-free sim I ever played online, and in CONDOR it is really important that we get good FPS online, when for instance flying 19 gliders on a thermal or ridge during compettion.

In the few times I used the MP in FLIGHT, and even being behind a 100Mbps T2 internet connection, I noticed jumpy airplanes all around me. I repeated the experiment a few more times and apparently FLIGHT in MP does suffer from Lag...

I would really appreciate getting a better performance because I believe flying MP in ALASKA will certainly feel GREAT!!!!

I am told that this is an artifact of the way multiplayer is being done by Flight! (P2P?) and is not amenable to a fix short of dedicated servers which will not happen as apparently that is not a Microsoft thang'

In all of the various fora I browse related to Flight! Microsoft has always studiously ignored any comments mentioning multiplayer stuttering, which leads me to believe its going to be one of those things with a low chance of being addressed anytime soon (assuming that the reasons others have given for the problem are valid)

It is also my one gripe with Flight! multiplayer.

We are all connected..... To each other, biologically...... To the Earth, chemically...... To the rest of the Universe atomically.

I agree with both of you, and have stopped participating in Public sessions because of that. However, please do not misunderstand. First of all, MGS is aware of the problem and that it is serious and needs to be addressed quickly.

However, I get the impression that the problem is not related to, or limited to, Flight. GTA IV, which is the most popular GFWL title, although Flight is not far behind, is also limited to 16 players (on XBox, and 32 on PCs), probably for the same reason - because of the stuttering. So, perhaps the problem has to do with the Live Multiplayer platform, in which case Flight, and all other Live titles, will have to wait until that is changed before things get better.

For the meantime, I only fly in Private sessions with a small number of Friends who are not constantly entering and exiting the session. José, I am TearySundew88, please add me to your Friends list.

Best regards.

Luis, thx a Lot! I will, but presently I haven't got FLIGHT installed - the new PC will only get my attention probably next weekend :-(

BTW: I am "Von Queca" while online :-)

When Flight first started the MP sessions were just fine and that was with 10-15 players (at least for me), only the occasional micro-stutter as people left or joined the session. Other aicraft flying and landing smoothly, then a short while ago the problem started, aircraft hovering 20ft or so above me, even thought the player said he was landed right beside me and all other aircraft stationary in the air for what seemed like minutes.

It was all good, or so it was for me, until Steam and the Zero came to be used, coincidence or what! Now when I start up in MP on the map view I can't see any other planes, only mine.
